Hi there! I am a 48 year old woman who has excessive belly fat! Some of it is due to a cescerian section that I had years ago that cut my stomach horizontally and some of it is due to poor diet. PLEASE!!! Somebody give me some ideas!

the only way to get rid of fat is by overall weight loss since we cant choose which body parts to lose the weight off.
find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

Ha. You are not so old. The exercises for you are the same as for everyone else, just know your working heart rate vis vis 220 - your age (48) x 80% = 138 beats per minute. So do cardio at max 138 bets per minute... cycling and rowing are great because they work large muscle groups. Body fat is indiscriminate. Doing stomach exercises doesn't necessarily target fat on your belly... so the trick is to work as large a group of muscles as possible to maximize the calorie burn.

If you couple this with some weight training you will get some sexxy legs and butt to match. Never too late, my wife (3 by c-section) and I started training in the gym last year with the youngsters and the young at heart... and it does take the health years off and help firm up your wrinkley bits.... but you wouldn't have any of those yet.

Not exercising at all and giving up will just make the problem worse. However as people age the metabolism naturally decreases so don't expect to get what you had 10 15 or 20 years ago. there are tips to speed metabolism. drink lots of water. If the water is ice cold it's even better as your body expends energy to bring it up to body temp. keep up the walking and if you can manage try to do some light cardio work a few times a week. Your must probably result at that age would be to possibly lose a little bit and then if lucky be able to maintain and not gain more. There are also vitamins and supplements that can speed up your metabolism as well. Good luck!!

Avoid sugar and try to keep your life low stress, that contributes to belly fat.You can't just lose fat on your stomach, there is no magic cure for belly fat.The only thing you can do is just burn calories to burn fat. Start with a daily walk and then add some exercises using free weights, that is really good for older people and a great way to burn fat.Good luck

You can reduce belly fat by doing exercises like walking, swimming and rowing. Such activities help in supplying enough oxygen to the body to burn fat. The healthiest way to prevent a fat stomach is by ensuring that your weight is normal for your height. Ensure that the energy provided by the food you eat matches the energy you burn performing your daily activities. More info at http://tinyurl.com/2crxsn

Plan active dates together with your hubby, such as bowling or even golfing, instead of dinner as well as a movie.

Walk between stores that are in close proximity (don't drive).

Try pilates and yoga, also join a gym. You'll get to lift weights (more fun than you think) and have motivation to cycle or walk on a treadmill every day or so.

Pilates and Yoga are wonderful ways to tone, but only if you eat right and drink plenty of water as well.
