Who is the one person who came up with the BSL ban? It had to start somewhere and I have never heard of where it started or who came up with this crap.

The earliest I can find is the Denver, CO ban in 1989. I could not come of with who was the council member that started it all. But i would to love to introduce him/her to my "killer" pit, who loves everybody. Here is a page for what happened:

I do not know exactly who came up with it, but I hate it. It is not just pits either it is dobys and rotys as well. There are others to but it is aweful. It is not the breeds they should be banning it is the people that starve them so they will kill opponets in fights, and the people that do not care about anything but making a buck so they breed them over and over and dont care who gets them or if they are inbred or not or even if the sire and dam are breeding material. That is who should be banned not the dogs. Get a clue folks it is not the dogs it is the owners and the breeders. You just hear it more about those breeds because they are the ones people use to fight. So they are the ones that get the reps! I do not personally have the pleasure of sharing my home with any of the above breeds but I have family members that have each and all of them are just as sweet as pie and not at all aggressive.

Niki-- Staffies are not "pits" with a fancy name. Looks like you need some education. APBT`s and AST are not the same. Enough time has passed to where there are major differences.
I am one of the few people that can look at a dog and with 99% accuracy, tell the difference. There is no gameness in an AST. Been in the game for 30 years, don`t try to tell me they are the same. Dumb people ?

I have rescued 2 bit bulls. My male, was abused the wife didn't want to take care of him while her husband was over seas, I brought him home,he was already 2 yrs well I went to sweep the kitchen floor with the broom, He was terrified so every day i would let him see it and when he stopped running I would say mommys going to get u, and that was are game. he runs around barking at the broom. now i will just say mommys going to get u and he waits for me to bring it out. These dogs are so loving if brought up right. they are very smart and easy to train. they love there familys .

Well I agree that it is bullshit but people fear them because of the attacks and stupid people that breed them for the wrong reasons. English Bull Terriers are diffent from Pits. Staffies are pits with a fancy name. People are dumb. Simple as that.

I don't know, but I know how you feel. I have a bull terrier (one of those target store dogs - they're related to pit bulls) and everyone is so scared of her but she's the sweetest thing ever. she hugs you, and she's just so sweet!

Idk, but I like pit bulls but I dont think they should be banned. It should be like a requirement for them to be trained well though, because when I was really young I almost got mauled by one and it was NOT fun AT ALL!
