Depends on where you live.

The "best" language depends on where you want to travel and what people you want to speak to or work with. If you are interested in Latin American or Spanish culture and people, then you will go far with Spanish. If you find West Africa, France, Belgium, Haiti, French Guiana, and Quebec to be more intriguing, then French is good to learn. If you want to go to Canada, the United States, Nigeria, South Africa, or Australia, then English is good. Japanese is mainly spoken in Japan, but that doesn't make it less useful. Japan has a unique culture, so there are no other places quite like it. If you are interested in it, then learn Japanese. Also, Japanese is very useful in Hawaii. If you are interested in China, then learn Chinese.

All of the languages you listed are important in the business world. Chinese, Japanese, and English are the most prominent, but certainly Italy, France, Spain, and other nations that speak Italian, Spanish, and French can provide good business opportunities.

If someone says that one is better than another, it just means that they find it more interesting. It doesn't make it better.

THey are all equally good, but I love Spanish. I didn't realize how beautifu it was until I moved from NY to TX. As well, I wish I had paid more attention in college while it was taught.

Chinese is great because it was the beginning of Asian languages period. Latin is great because it is the basis for English, Spanish, Italian & French. I can't choose one because I speak them all!
