Its a great move, a race team actually owned by someone who knows about racing. He will have no problem getting on his feet with support from Chevy and Bud, plus Hendrick horsepower, probably gonna see a huge improvement next year

I'm on the fence right now. I dont think it's a real good move to go to his own team. Yeah, DEI isnt going up, but it really isnt going down either. To start from scratch is going to be tough, what makes it even crazier is that he has a home at RCR and he's not taking it. The other thing that really suprised me is that Truex is going. On the other hand, if he truely is going to be getting Hendrick equipment, I cant blame him because they are the ones everyone is trying to catch up to now. Think about it, Hendrick builds the cars, Jr and Truex drive them. It would almost be like Hendrick has 9 (4 HMS, 3 Ginn and 2 Jr) plus teams on the track under different umbrella's. They all share information.
But at the end of the day, this will hurt DEI far worst than it will ever hurt Jr. DEI merging with Yates is no big win, DEI going to Fords is no big win.
I dont think it will end up taking much for Jr to get Kerry over on his team and in turn take Jeffery (who I'm really looking forward to seeing him) away from DEI. We'll do some more thoughts after they make it official, for now, I'm just taking it for what it is.

This is a double edged sword. On one-hand, he will be able to:
1. Control his own teams and cars
2. Have Hendrick equipment and already carrying over sponsorship
3. A young driver in Martin Truex Jr. to continue as a teammate
4. Chevrolets to field
The other side of the sword is much harsher:
1. Has he not learned of Michael Waltrip's mistakes from this year?
2. This would not be an ideal option for a championship win
3. What happens to DEI? and Do they merge with Robert Yates Racing?
4. Is he going to have the same problem making races with the qualifying system they have now?

Grreat move for JR. He will have the best engines/Cars out there. Teresa has shown her complete incompetence. It will be the death of DEI. Teresa and Jr have had a rocky relationship for years. Now Dale Jr will be able to show just how good of a driver he is and Will win a championship now that he is free of the stepmother curse and the pain in the posterior that Teresa has shown she is.
I am no die hard Jr fan but I am a fan of good racing. Jr is a good driver and should have good equip. Equipment that Teresa was not able to provide. Look for great Racing from Jr next year, He may even get to like the COT now that Hendrick will be building his.

He's going to have a rough time if he starts his own team. He may be getting Hendrick equipment, but that's all he'll be getting from them. For those who think that Hendrick will share info with their competitors like they do within their own stable, they're sadly mistaken. There are several other teams that get equipment from Hendrick, and they don't get all of the same information that Hendrick has.
Jr. needs to go to RCR or another established team at this point in his career. He's already 32 years old, and his odds of winning a championship are decreasing every year. The amount of young talent in NASCAR driving the retirement age down in a hurry. You're not going to see many more drivers race well into their 40's and still be competitive like you did in the past.

Good move on his part. I wouldnt worry about the Waltrip syndrom. Problem with Waltrip racing is that as a brand new team, all thier resources and finance had to go to both the current and COT cars which means mucho $$$. Junior only has to spend his resource on COT development for 2008. With the superior Hendrick motor in his cars (which has been proven), watch out.

I think this could go either way. Even with Hendrick support they are going to struggle for a few years at best. I think a better move would have been to go to RCR. I love Jr but my biggest fear for him is that he will be Kyle Petty in 10 years. It's hard to live in such a huge shadow.

This is a good move if he ever hopes to win a championship, because we can all see that DEI is heading the wrong direction. They have even lost their competitive dominance in retrictor plate races.

I think it is a good move. I think staying under Theresa has been career suicide. I think he will be better without her and DEI.

I think it will be a good move, He'll be able to get the NASCAR wins that he will need, and not give them all to Teresa. Jr. can contoll his own feelings and don't have to worry about someone else to tell him what to do. Goooooo JR.
