he could have a infection or has been in a fight.

They could have been spatting over something, especially if one or both's hormones are raging. Sometimes they will spat, but it's over and resolved soon enough...sometimes when someone's ears have been nipped at.
If they're fighting, you would have seen more signs of combat. You can read more about these behavioral signs at http://www.cavyspirit.com/sociallife.htm.
I agree with everyone else here: taking him to a vet to make sure the blood is coming from a bite on the ear flap and not from something wrong inside the ear is an excellent idea. In fact, I wouldn't treat it as a wait-and-see kind of option...I'd get to a vet quickly (especially if the blood is coming from deep inside the ear).
As a blanket statement -- "male guinea pigs, neutered or unneutered, can't live together without fighting" is a myth. At our rescue, we've found far more successful pairings with males than unsuccessful: http://guineapigconnection.typepad.com/pig_notes/2007/03/myth_1_male_gui.html.

You are not supposed to house tw male guineas pigs, they are called boars, together!!!! I too once made the same mistake, until I did some reading about guinea pigs. They will fight each other badly, and take small vicious bites out of each other!!!!Male guinea pigs are extremely territiorial. Please put them in separate cages, since they are both males.Get yourself a good book about guinea pigs, they usually have them at your local pet store. If you have more guinea pig questions, I would be happy to answer them for you.I am a guinea pig lover, and I have had many over the past few years. My current is a male named Maxie. He is old, but a sweetie.Good luck!!!!

Consider fighting as a possibility You may be able to reduce fighting by placing a few drops of orange extract in the cage after you change it. Since it is a Guinea pig, make sure that you are feeding it the correct amount of food containing vitamin C, and that the food is less than 6 months old. Their systems require daily intake of Vitamin C, and ear rpoblems are often a common side effect of vitamin deficiency. May want to get a mineral block if you do not already have one.

It sounds like either a fight or serious ear infection, but assume it is a fight and separate them immediately as a precaution. Male guinea pigs often have to live in separate cages.
Finally, you really need to get him to a vet to make sure his ear is not seriously damaged and to rule out an ear infection.

Guinea pig breeder gave the best answer. Male guinea pigs tend to be territorial and about 75% of the time will have to be kept in a seperate cage unless you get them neutered. If the bleeding isn't too bad, Neosporin or Bacitracin can be applied to the wound, otherwise please see a vet.

You should clean the ear out, and just keep a close eye on your piggies to see if they are really fighting. If they are separate them of course.
You could take the pig to the vet just to make sure everything is all right.

guinea pigs from the same gender can usually get in a fight so that may be the problem so quickly take out one of them out and put him in another cage.also try buying a special medicine and go to the pet store and ask whats wrong.they will usually tell you for free in stead of vets where you have to pay

Sounds like they have been fighting - as soon as there is sign of blood, guinea pigs need separating. If they are drawing blood now they will not get on peacefully.

question? are there different animals contained in the residing house that would want to attack your 'pig'? the different little ones probably no longer meaning too, yet might want to damage him? 10 yrs is rather previous for a guinea pig, you've been fortunate to have had him that lengthy, astounding needs and need he receives more beneficial ideal, you would possibly want to objective to positioned some ointment on his back and face, antiobiotic ointment would artwork.....

Males are usually pretty aggressive with each other. R there any females around at all? they could be fighting. I would put them in seperate cages for the safety of both animals and yourself.
