I'd love to help you. I'm a weight loss counselor, here are some tips that I HIGHLY reccomend doing. The key to weight loss and maintaining a healthy weight is to know what you are eating and to change bad habbits into good ones! Everything in moderation! I may sound like everyone else and nothing you've never heard before but the best way to loose weight is to watch what you eat and exercise. This doesn't happen overnight, losing weight (the right way) does take weeks. The first thing you need to do is review your eating habits the best way to do that is to:

1) Start keeping a food/activity journal. (review your journal after 3 days, take a look at everything you've eaten, from that, evaluate what "bad" things you ate and figure out a healthy food to replace it.
2) Increase fruit intake. Take advantage of the fresh fruit comming into seasons, blueberries, strawberries, watermelon, cantolope, blackberries, and apples are great fruits to chose. Limit you intake on bananas, pears, and pinapple (they are higher in starch and sugar)
3) Start drinking 64 oz. of water (4 water bottles) water keeps the body hydrated and helps the digestive system by moving the foods along.
4) increase veggies, eat a lot of water based veggies and dark green veggies (high in fiber and vitamins) like salad, spinach, brocoli, greenbeans, celery....etc...
5) Watch your staches- make wise choices, if you have a sandwhich make it on whole grain bread, switch from baked potatos to sweet potatos, etc..
6) Watch sugar intake...start buying sugar free, watch cereals - look for extra fiber cereals- good choices would be anything from kashi, special k, oatmeal
7)Watch sodium - pass on the salt shaker, avoid soups, sodium is the main cause of water retention which can lead to bloating and holding onto unwanted water weight pounds.
8) Preplan all your meals the day before, that way you don't have to think about what your doing to eat that day, you know exactly what your're going to eat, you'll be able to stay on track more.

Limit yourself to 1 hour a day for television/computer entertainment, and do something else. The more active you are, the more weight you'll lose. Sure there's weight loss programs, and pills, and diets. But the only true way to lose weight is to be active. When I was in Crete last summer, we asked some people why so many people there are skinny. You don't really see overweight people around. They replied that they just walk every where they go. Being active is just part of their everyday routine. Well, good luck to you.

Okay, you don't want to be buff... good thing you mentioned that, because if you workout too much with weights you will look even bigger since you are a bit overweight. In your case, you might want to consider alot of cardiovascular/aerobic exercises. Do alot of running (sprints, jogging and moderate sprints). Go swimming if there's a community pool around or go to the YMCA if you have one nearby (it may cost less than a gym membership).
You could still lift weights, but be sure not to lift heavy for awhile since your main objective is to lose weight! You only want to trim and get defined so lift weights to tone your muscles and to help with burning fat/calories. Also, do alot of push-ups (not too many repetitions in one set). The idea is to do alot of sets. Lets say you can do 15 push-ups at the most in one set... well, do around 7 push-ups per set, rest for 45 seconds to a minute then do another set of 7 reps... continue that till you get a little tight in the arms. Then move on to another exercise (preferably running) or do some squats. You'll want to keep your heart rate pumping consistently, but not to the point that you feel like you're gonna pass out!
Also, you'll need to change your diet. It's best to do your research on that and consult your doc.
Remember, when exercising (especially since you're not athletic to begin with) take it slow and allow your body to adjust/get use to muscle movements and adapt all the new exercises... your muscles will thank you for it and your heart may not be ready for strnuous workout yet (once again, check with doc)! Good luck, have fun (it has to be fun or you'll lose interest).

There's lots of things you can do in the summer. Swimming, Bike riding in the park, Jogging, Basketball, Kickball etc. Don't forget that you need at least 60 minutes of exersise daily. Eat less sweets. Eat more veggies, fruits, meats,(but not too much) and grains. Don't skip any meals. It's not healthy. Get a nutritious meal for Breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Good luck!

DO something. Working out and stuff always gets old, and boring, and you're way to conscious of it. Try starting a daily basketball game or something. Run TO somewhere, so it seems like theres a point. Honestly, you work the most when theres a goal in mind. Doing sports and stuff is amazing because you have a drive to compete. Just make sure you're having fun, and you'll be way more likely to keep it up. Get a dog and play frisbee.

Hm... first off summer's a great way to get fit. ^^ It's sunny outside so there's a lot of opportunity to find and pick something outdoorsy that you like, be it Tennis, Gardening, Hiking, Biking, Running all the way to Judo and what not.

Try to limit your time spent sitting around idling (yep, turn off the tele) and do some crunches, go for a walk, blade, swim and whatever else you might like to do.

A good incentive is to post a pic of what you'd like to look like on your wall or something. At least that works for me.

Try to eat whole grains instead of white breads and such as well as veggies. Eat those first before you eat lean meats (chicken, shrimp etc).

I found becoming healthier was easier if I involved my family (since they were slightly unhealthy as well) and now we're pretty healthy. :D

If you have to treat yourself, treat yourself to someting you desperately love once or twice a week (that fav chocolate bar or something). You'll lose it if you keep active and leave lazing around for sleep (which you can try to aim for 8 hours or more). ^_^

The best way to lose weight is to eat healthily and get plenty of exercise.

If you're eating any junk food or drinking any soda, cut it out now! Drink lots of water, eat whole grains, lean proteins, loads of fruits and veggies, and get exercise. Over the summer there's lots you can do. Play football, soccer, or basketball, go swimming, bikeriding, or just run around outside. As long as you're eating well and exercising at least 5 days a week you'll lose weight.

first thing you need to do is limit your computer time, yes, i know its gonna hurt, but it needs to be done. You need to get outside and MOVE. My son is 15yo, 5' 7" and weighs 170, not fat but solid. he stayed with me for a week at easter and was out riding his bike with his friends, lost 5 pounds. Try to make it fun, i know its nice being inside where its nice and comfortable, heck thats what I do. LOL, but really, only if you get off yer butt are ya gonna really make any progress. Walk, take a doggie, a friends doggie, or walk someones kid. stay off the bread, sweets, drink water, eat fruit, veggies and chicken and fish. moderation is the idea. you can have a treat once in awhile but just a small portion not a whole pie, or cake. i do wish you good luck cause after quitting smoking, losing weight is the hardest thing to do.
