The people that you are talking about are not really Christians.
A real Christian would never do anything like that.

I can understand where you are coming from and I realize the resentment you feel towards christian groups that act harshly and hatefully towards homosexual people. (Just to tell you, I'm pretty sure that what you are saying about the where there is hate put love is the Peace prayer of Saint Francis.) Now I am Catholic and where the Church stands is a "love the sinner, hate the sin" standpoint. We recognize that these people are homosexual and do not hate them or love them any less because of that. But homosexual marriage or union is not what is willed by God. To be a Christian is not to be passive towards other peoples sin, as well as our own. It is actually an act of mercy to "admonish the sinner", or correct someone who is in sin. Now we realize that there are other crimes throughout the world and other sins (by the way a sin is something that is done that is against what God wants in a loose definition) and more often than not we stand against this. God Bless and may the Light guide you,
Elisha

Your quote is from the poem "Prayer of St. Francis"
Christians know that God is real, and they warn others of sin from the same motives that one would warn another person that an iron was hot. They do not wish for that person, or anyone else, to be hurt. It is not intended to be hurtful or hypocritical, for many Christians have done the same sins. If they did not care, they would let you go ahead without a warning and get hurt.
We also warn others that murder is wrong, as you pointed out - abortions, suicides, euthanasia, etc., which many people view a "victim-less" as well. For sure, people will continue to do what they feel is right, but that does not mean that it is. They are not our judgments, they are God's.

It's really not possible to solve a problem like this if we insist on clinging to stereotypes. There are millions of Christians just in the United States. Some of them are objectionable people. There are millions of whites, blacks, Jews, Asians, Muslims, and so on. Everyone of those groups has members that are generally offensive to others. Everyone of those groups also has members that never intentionally offend anyone. If you insist on classing the whole group by the actions of one or two members then you will offend the whole group which has the effect of magnifying your problem. It would be better to identify an individual who offends you and deal with that individual. Did they say they were being offensive because their religion demanded it? They lied. They were being offensive because they like it. Religion was the excuse they thought you would buy.

As followers of Jesus Christ, our ideal goal would be to live in peace and love with ALL people. We are unable to do that. Christianity is VERY firm on its beliefs. Ther is absolutely NO room for compromise. For things such as Homosexuality, which clearly go against everything we believe, We are permitted NO tolerance. To some, that sounds contradictory, those who do not know where we really stand. If one is to truely and thoroughly look into the Word of GOD, you would find that we are not to make enemies of any, but we must stand firm on our beliefs and our GOD will always be supreme to other human beings.

Just several points first..
a/ There are problems making general statements suggesting "All Xians" are like this.... (Just cause it's commonplace doens't make it OK)
b/ I've seen the same bible passages quoted to support & vilify homosexuals. BTA it's been said the Devil can quote the bible for his own purposes (take that which way you wish - works both ways IMHO)
c/ SOME people (not just X_ain) like to maintain "victium" status. So they can take the moral high ground. And in same cases (falsely) identifying with recognsied minorities to loudly complain about just about anything they can.
Having said that some people just like to have a cause to complain about....

it's kinda hard to ignore someone when they want to impress their views upon you. non-christians keep complaining about "not wanting to hear it anymore". there were less problems when people didn't care if it was law or not.
war isn't really a sin. murder is the malicious or unlawful killing of a human/humans. if war was started out of normal hate, and you yourself hated during war, it's a sin. but I don't blame the police for doing their job either. I don't condone Iraq's war, but I still don't know Bush's actual intentions. lets just say he believes in stopping terror for now.

We dont make enemies, it's they who make us enemies. A true Chirstian like God cares about the individual, but hate sin.
A true Chirstian is nothing but a seed sower. We go about this world sowing the seed of God's Word.
And for this, we are hated of them. But, Jesus did tell us to remember that they hated him first.
We are hated because we are trying to introduce them to a God of Love, Mercy and Grace. But, beside these He is a Holy, and Righteous God, whose name is even Holy.
It is because of Him, that we become enemies to the world.

Yes, we should be more like Stalin he apparently did not make enemies out of people. O dang I just generalized that ALL atheists were like Stalin, but you basically did the same thing by not even distinguishing that not all Christians are like this.
