Start exercising.

Also, 3,500 calories is one pound. So, eliminate calories accordingly to reach your goal weight by the set date. I'd recommend cutting 250-300 a day.

Give up soda, or if you must, ,drink diet. Switching to water should help you lose 5 pounds on its own.

Good luck!

find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

sounds like you have a good plan going... i would stick with that and cut back on fats. just remember: nothing will happen over night so just make sure you stay with it every day and by summer you'll be great! its so weird because I am shorter than you by an inch and weigh about ten more pounds than you.. idont look that fat but im not used to looking like this because i used to be sooooo perfect! but then i got a boyfriend......... end of story! so i just joined the gym and am TRYING to eat better.. probably not going to happen! and i have to get the motivation to actually go to the gym.. i will soon its just so cold out right now i hate going outside ANYWHERE lol!! Well i hope you reach your goal!

In my opinion, Swimming is one of the best or the best exercise for burning calories/losing fat, but too bad we all don't have pools. When you get there you'll have fun and lose more fat/tone down if you end up swimming alot. I just posted an answer on losing fat around the abs... it's affective for the whole body, but I can't speak for all individuals. Just take a look at the answer I gave previous to this one. Here's the link, hope it helps.

I was on this diet that helped me lose a lot of weight. You really have to watch what you eat. I ate six small meals a day. I ran 3 times a week for 25-30 mins. I also lifted weights 5 times a week. Here is what I ate:1st meal Egg whites and Non Fat yogurt. 2nd meal was either a piece of fruit or a half of a turkey sandwhich. 3rd meal was 3 oz of canned Tuna in water. 4th meal was 2 chicken tenderloins.5th was whatever dinner was. 6th was yogurt or fruit. this diet helped me out. You also have to watch portion sizes. Don't stuff yourself. I hope this helps you out.

Eat a reasonable amount of calories for your height, and eat a balanced diet of fresh, whole foods. Exercise. Repeat.
