DEI will continue to struggle. Jr will still probably end up owning it it will just cost him a whole lot less. Kinda like the difference between shopping at Tiffani es and Goodwill. Teresa would not invest in the engineering technology needed to win ( which is what Jr was complaining about). The team was dedicated they just didn't have the engineering equipment necessary and was often having to take cars over to JR Motor sports just to use a chassis Dyno that Jr got for his Bush and Modified teams.

DEI will slowly collapse if Max Siegel doesn't know what he's doing. Even if he does, I say there may be a big restructuring of the company coming. In the end, unless they sign a driver with a decent following, then their profits are going to take a really big hit. Sponsors can only do so much and Teresa seems more interested in merchandising and keeping seniors name out there than running a racing organization. Hence why Jr is leaving (among many other reasons I'm sure). If senior were alive this would not be happening but he is not and I give Jr all the praise in the world for stepping out of the known, out of his father's shadow, and finding his own way. Maybe he would have done the same thing if his dad was alive but we will never know. I believe one way or the other he would give Jr his blessing. Senior gave him very little direction on how to handle himself, he guided by example and Jr learned more than if his dad had just handed everything to him. Business savvy he is (and a damn good driver to boot).

IF the report is accurate and not just mere speculation (will find out at 11am Thursday), DEI will most likely merge with a team like RYR (and switch to Fords in the process). Yates has been looking for partners for a while. DEI will need something like that partnership to survive, otherwise they'll end up like MWR with hardly ever being in a race next year unless Paul Menard finds some magic to make it into the top 35 by the end of the year.
In reply to your edit: The Yates/DEI merger wouldn't happen if Dale stays/owns DEI. Dale will never drive anything but a Chevy, and Yates is too entrenched with Ford to switch.

I almost wonder if an outside investor would save DEI. A good example is John Henry buying into Roush Racing. I think if DEI merged with Robert Yates that would be the death of DEI. Fords cannot compete with Chevrolets. Hendrick, Gibbs, RCR, and Roush are the top teams in NASCAR. I think Max Siegel is a smart guy and if he could say lure Mark Martin, or a Bill Elliott out of retirement and get a superstar in the process they may not be that bad off. I think that superstar may be Greg Biffle as Roush is talking about cutting down teams.

I know everyone blames Teresa but it is her company. If he had wanted Dale Jr to have had it,he should have left a will saying so. Which real family are you talking about? Dale Sr had three different families. Whatever happens to DEI,I'm glad Teresa didn't give in to blackmail-which is what it came down to

DEI will surely lose a lot of the fan-base it had while Jr was there. The fan-base will follow Jr wherever he decides to go. I'm sure Dale Sr is watching from above in great disgust.

dei is done for all intent and purpose, a merger with yates may loom in the future, but then that is not what sr would have done now is it? Jr is doing the rght thing and Sr would have wanted it that way. Good for Jr and Kelly!

JR. wasn't gonna stay if Yates came anyway. When they join with Yates, DEI will be running Ford's, Jr. wasn't about to do that.

hold on, no one says he's leaving yet. I'm hoping and i think he is, that he will get 51% share of dei inc. then he can turn things around. I'm sure Dale Sr. is looking down upon this whole thing and wishing he could come down and bang some heads

DEI will end up like a dilapidated service station on the highway to nowhere! Visit the URL referenced for proof. It is off of scenedaily.com!
