With the all the politics that Junior has had distracting him this year maybe the change will be for the best.

It will work out for the greater good in the end. I hope DEI goes way south and he can pick it up for pennies on the dollar. This would be a few years out. For the near future, such as next year or even two, things will be bumpy. There is one thing he got from his Dad that the wicked witch can't take away. Jr has a very good head on his shoulders. He is a very talented leader. He will help his entire crew keep their cool when it is most important. He has displayed this wisdom already this year.
He is not the most popular driver just because of his Dad, (but it sure helps) he knows what to do and when to do it. I'm a ~~ fan and I hope Jr teaches the old hag a trick or two.
Good Luck Jr!

IF the report is accurate and not just mere speculation (we'll find out at 11am Thursday), both the Jr's might be in for a rough year next year. Papa Hendrick certainly will be keeping his best chassis and engines for his teams, giving his satellite teams the ones that aren't as good. Both the Jr's will probably do better than the other satellites because of the better talent they have, but they could be in for a rough start to the year since they would have to qualify on time for at least the first 5 races (no owner points from 2007 season since it will be a new team).
Hopefully he has better luck running his own team than MW has this year! At least JR Motorsports has been in operation for a while in Busch.
There are conflicting reports out however about him running under JRM next year, or just signing with another team... so we'll have to wait for 11am to find out for sure!

Dale is leaving his S Moms team. She was the owner. When Dale died, she got it all and Jr was just a driver. He wanted to stay but she was set on having the team for herself so she could continue to bring in all the endorsment money from the No. 3 logo and most of what Jr. was bringing in. She will be one sorry woman when sales fall off and the Jr. logo goes somwhere else. I hope she really understands that to give up Jr. is going to make her a poor person.

I think it will kill DEI, unless they merge with Robert Yates Racing. Either way, Chevrolet, Budweiser, and Hendrick will be happy. Overall, Jr. means the world to NASCAR. I guess this is his best option to get Hendrick equipment, without losing fans by going to Hendrick Motorsports directly. I am happy for Dale Jr., but I have to wonder why would he want to that big of a committment over winning a championship in the prime of his career?

I think he'll do fine. I don't think it was working out with his step-mother Theresa. They say she's pretty hard to get along with, so at least he'll have peace of mind. They better be worrying about DEI now because Dale Jr. was pretty much DEI. I feel Theresa is the one that has made the mistake by not doing everything she could to keep him.

He may be, the official announcement is Thursday at 11am. It may be for the better that he has his own team. Instead of being treated as a kid he will be treated as an adult.
