CSM's are glorified cashiers. Um, you don't really need in specialized training or schooling so it's not too hard. Be prepared to kiss a lot of a** to be promoted at Walmart, though.

Depends on you. You can be hired straight in if you have the experience--I was. You have to have patience to deal with irate and rude customers--of which there are many. You have to be able to think and move quickly--juggle schedules, cashiers--make sure all rules are followed--and if cashiers don't listen to you or do what you need them to--You HAVE to be willing to have them written up. You can't let people walk all over you or you'll never make it. You have to have a tough skin. I am a CSM at one of the biggest supercenters.

I doubt you are ready to ask that question because it takes a long history with the business to advance to that responsibility. Tough, any supervisory job is tough because friendship are thrown out, you must be able to constructively criticize anyone, who compassion to all, and make sure the work is done in a prompt and appropriate manner. And in CMS you also have to deal with the customer who is irate, upset and rude, all without showing emotion.

It is a very , very demanding job. Be ready to deal with whinny cashiers, irate customers and managers that will never help you, ever ever ever. CSM is basically the managements scape goat.

Anytime you are in a leadership position over customer service it is going to be a tough job, doesn't matter who you work for.

customer service is a very hard job and especially at a discount store because people don't seem to understand that just getting your butt in the door does not make you a customer. you have to buy something to be a customer. also, wal-mart has the cheapest customers who will fight over anything.

Do you have any experience?? If so, it shouldn't be too hard. If not, you'll probabaly have to work your way up.
