I have been on it for several years. I have high anxiety. It has not caused weight gain for me. But It should not have been perscribed for sleep. The stress maybe. But you should be aware of the fact that it is an addictive narcotic. And you can not just stop taking it. If you are gaining weight it could be because you are stressed and eating more. I check webmd all the time on any drug I am given. It will list interactions and side effects. Hope you feel better soon.

I have been on it for 19 months and yes i have gained a little bit of weight during the time tha ti have been on it, but that just could be cause i'm almost 28 and my metabolism is slowing down some. I mean I've maybe gained 10-12 pounds in all of thea time and when i don't eat much in a day and weigh myself that morning I'll weigh less.

The most common side effect is drowsiness, of which i ahve had little problem with IT does help me sleep some as long as you don't have caffiene in the day.

AS for some of the other answers, If you feel a drunk feeling, yeah you are definetley taking too much, call doc right away,

To the person who thinks it's worse than coke, sure it's addictive, I've never done coke but i could never imagine that they are even close as bad, If that were the case then like 30% of the precription drugs out there are probably worse than coke in that person's opinion.

Klonopin is a benzodiazepine. Benzodiazepines are highly controversial. Many people have ruined their lives with benzodiazepines. One famous person who said klonopin was worse than cocaine was the singer Stevie Nicks. She described it as a living hell.
Often these drugs like any other addictive drug feels good and has benefitial effects during the first few weeks or months of using it. Then after that it stops working due to tolerance and then it turns against a person causing worsening of physical and particularly mental health.
You would do well to read this resource http://www.benzo.org.uk/manual/
You probably won't gain weight with it but you won't know until you take it.
I personally avoid tranquillisers and sleeping pills like the plague. I was on them for 5 years of my life and they were the worst 5 years of my life. The only thing worse than those 5 years was the first year of getting off of the pills and going through benzo withdrawal. benzo withdrawal can drag on for months and months. It aint pretty.

I don't have any side effects from it. If anything, it may have caused mild weight loss for me. I take mine with Lexapro and since I've been on meds, I've lost about 10lbs. Who really knows why, possibly because I'm more active.

The big side effect is that it makes you tired. I actually don't get tired at all from it and it doesn't help me sleep. It keeps me from having panic attacks and being anxious all day. Other side effects have to do with feeling 'drugged' or a feeling similar to being drunk with dizziness or messed up coordination and balance. I take 1.5mg/day and don't have any of those side effects. I'm sure I would if I tried taking a handful of pills but there's no reason for that unless I wanted to abuse it.

It's addictive, like other benzodiazepines but I haven't developed a problem with it. I did get addicted to Ativan though before I was put on Klonopin.
