If I read the translation of Quran in my language rather than arabic...is it equivalent to reading in Arabic?

My mom started a wazifa and in which she has to complete manzils every day.A manzil consists of 4-5 surah's. She decided to read the translation instead of the arabic text.Is that acceptable? Is translation equivalent?

Translating the verses of the Qur'an to your language may cause some misunderstanding; as translators often err. Remember that the Arabic letters and sounds were done by Allah's order and approval and He guaranteed that it shan't be corrupt...while translation of the Qur'anic verses is man's job, which will contain countless mistakes; no matter how sincere and "accurate" was this translation performed.

Of course you could read the translation and understand and follow Allah's orders in any language; just make sure you don't rely upon a single translation...and try knowing to which sect does the translator belong; this is very essential.

Again, if you don't know Arabic, then you'll be greatly rewarded for reading the translation of the Qur'anic verses, but why don't you just try learning some Arabic; bit by bit? Good luck with your verbs; as I could feel that you're a sincere Muslimah...and may Allah bless thee, sister, Ameen!

I asked an Imam once and he told me that reading the translation isn't equivalent to reading in Arabic. It's only acceptable to read it in Arabic coz that's the language it was sent down in. I am currently reading a Quran in Arabic which has English translations on the side, I read the Arabic part first then I look at the translation. It takes longer but it's worth it

In Islam, it's not -really- the Quran unless it's in the original Arabic. So while you may understand the same thing, amongst the faithful it's lacking the holy language which makes it not a "real" Quran.

That doesn't mean it's not valuable or that it's bad, as far as I know, but to the devout Muslim, it's not a real Quran.

Reading in Arabic is best since the true meaning lies there - English is merely a translation so of course it loses some of the depth of the arabic verses. But if you are asking about validity then yes it's equivalent. The reward is for one who is sincere and of the good intention. :)

If she wants the best meaning, she best learn Arabic. Like any text, you lose the nuances of words in the translation. But the English version will give you the ideas.

no its not. its prose in another language so alot is lost in translation and subject to the perceptions of the person working it. when a slight word is altered for example in a king james bible etc. there can be heated debate, because such vague wording can have significant difference of meaning in the already prevalent variance of possible interpretations.
Thus, translating an entire holy text is definately not true to form of the original wording to be presented to the viewer.

If your heart is receptive, the true meaning of the verse that is read from the Quran will be reveled to you!

God can create everything but cant keep his word pure or make his word known in all languages...just too tough for him.
