Yeah I bet that headline really got your attention. But anyway to get to the point...I think organized religion defeats its own purpose. To advocate peace and love yet fight others who dont believe the same as you makes you a hippocrite. Not just Muslims, but also every religion in general. I believe that there is something bigger than us out there. Something that guides us and gives us hope. I just dont believe in a God that punishes you for not eating the flesh and blood of Jesus, for not praying seven times a day, not getting baptized, eating meat, or other silly rules around the world's most popular religions. I believe in an all forgiving god who gives good people a second chance,...or a third,... or a fourth. I think even the most unforgiving person can be forgiven, if they so want.

And I dont mean literally "fight." Once again reading into someone's words and not their meaning (aka the Qua'rn, Bible, what not) is a sign of a follwer of an organized religion.

Religion is a limitation that people try to put on God.

"To advocate peace and love yet fight others who dont believe the same as you makes you a hippocrite."
Yet, you come on here to persuade people to look at religion the same way you do and attack the faith of others. Which is it? Do we teach what we believe, confront divergent opinions, and value truth, or do we just live and let live? Your post suggests both. First, it *says* we shouldn't fight over religion. OTOH, it is placed here starting a fight.
You can't have it both ways. You have to pick an idea for "peace" and "love" to adhere to, but don't say one thing and do another.

You are right to an extent. It is pointless to advocate peaceful and loving ideas while in opposition to other denominations. We must work together to share the news of Jesus Christ wiht all people. Denomination, "Organized Religion", problematically are based on human reasoning, Sinful and Imperfect man's attempt to interpret what the Word of GOD says, words which none of us can truely comprehend. Unfortunately, because we are human, there will always be discension even among the people of GOD. Denominations serve to provide fellowship with others whose beliefs are similar to your own, who can best encourage you and you them to grow closer to Christ. Regardless of a Denomination, it is most important to look to the Word of GOD. Follow what it says and not what men say. Men will always come up short of perfection. It is our nature, but you can be absolutely certain that the Word of God is Perfect and INfallible.

I think you'd be surprised at how many religions DON'T teach that you need to fight disbelievers. or that if you don't take the sacrament that you are going to Hell.
I take the sacrament at my church, but it's not a "save your soul" kind of thing, its a remembrance thing. its to help us remember what Jesus did for us. (and no, we don't believe that we are literally eating the flesh of Jesus. we know it's just bread and water)
I think that the radicals in a religion give it a bad name. members of all religions over time have done this, where they do something horrific and say it was in "God's name"
no religion would support that. if God or Jesus were on this earth right now, they would not let somebody rape or murder in their name. and any leader of any church would come right out and say "we do not support what this person is doing"

as far organized religion, i don't know of any major one besides muslim / islamic extremists who open kill others who don't follow them. yes, in the Bible, there were times when God instructed / led a fight to destroy His enemies, but since Jesus Christ came, loving others now the point. no fighting, just teaching.
now as far as your outlook on God, you're looking at it all wrong. think of God as your parents, your spouse, or your boyfriend / girlfriend. you what you think would please them. sometimes there are guildlines of what you should do, but don't have to. but other times, there are rules. break these rules and you get punished. yes, God forgives, but to let you run wild and do what you want, does not come without consequenses. same with your parents rules. i'm sure your parents love you despite breaking some rule 10 years ago..... but you still got punished for doing so.

You mean extreme, like the people who spread prejudicial stereotypes about different groups of people to encourage ridicule and hatred?
Or did you just mean everyone who is "extreme" and does not believe the same things you do?
You were not very clear on that.
No, organized religion is not a sin.

Forgiveness depends on the one offended, not the offender. It helps if one "repents", as in being sorry for what they have done. God has made only one way for our relationship to be restored with Him... believe it or not... that way is through accepting the possibility that Jesus Christ did what He said He has done. There is no other way for you to find our living (as in real and alive) God, the creator of all. Everything else is just vain and hopeful imaginings.

actually mother nature is similar... she's the one who fought for equality between women and men, children's rights, peace on earth, she's the one who doesn't see color or race... she sees societies based on environmental differences.. ex some live by the ocean,, some in the mountains,, some in the deserts etc... cultures developed based on their natural surroundings... none good none evil just different and all acceptable... when it comes to forgiveness she says forgiveness has rules.... for example.... a man who beats his wife... if he doesn't stop with verbal warnings his relatives should take him out in the wilderness and beat him senseless.... and he should be told that every time he beats his wife that is what he'll get... forgiveness has rules.... they should stop doing what was offensive.... little offends her but violence is never an answer....

Your right ---Organized religion is by far the most dangerous form of tribalism ever devised by man--it's worse than the tribalism of nationalism--the tribalism of skin color, the tribalism of linguistics --simply because people will still kill in the name of God.--This divisive "us & them" mindset will always cause conflict & chaos. It's time the world woke up to the truth--there is no "them"!!!

Christ never said He'd bring peace on earth. quite the opposite. peace is more of an internal thing and love is something you show. it doesn't work both ways.
