Okay, there are lots of 'low fat' foods and such, but it seems that people always have something against all foods. So I was wondering, what food is truly healthy? I want to start eating better and need a list of good for me, healthy, food to purchase. Thanks!

first you have to realize that ingesting dietary fats is not unhealthy. if you were to remove all fats from your diet you would not live very long at all. almost every degenerative disease has a link to either an insufficient amount of the right fats in the diet or the ability of the body to metabolize various fatty acids. fat free foods are not neccessary it's just another process where the food item has been manipulated. they take fat out and put sugar in. low fat foods being more healthy, I think not.

eating healthy is all about balance. you eat a lot of natural carbs and some processed. you consume some saturated fats you ingest some unsaturated fats to equal it out. a lot of eating healthy is common sense and to not take things that the "media" says literally as far too many people do.

you shouldn't need a list of foods. foods that are in there natural state are the most nutritious and the healthiest. oats and beans over pasta and bread. an orange over orange juice. a home cooked cheese burger with 97% ground beef vs one from a fast food restaurant. a potato over french frys, etc., etc., etc.

Foods that are low in fat, high in fiber, has neutrients, and are simple (less ingredients means less work for your digestive tract)

Fresh fruits and vegitables, (easy on the butter and salt) fish, and whole grains.

It's also about portion control. The size of a normal stomach of a healthy individual is the size of that person's fist. Your food portion should be no larger than that. Eat 3 meals and 3 snacks in that portion.
