There are un-Biblical legends that Adam had a wife before Eve who was named Lilith. The legends vary significantly, but they all essentially agree that Lilith left Adam because she did not want to submit to him. According to the legends, Lilith was an evil, wicked woman who committed adultery with Satan and produced a race of evil creatures. None of this is true. There is no Biblical basis whatsoever for these concepts. There is no one in the Bible named Lilith. Genesis chapter 1 does not record the creation of Lilith with Genesis chapter 2 recording the creation of Eve. Rather, Genesis chapter 2 is a "closer look" at the creation of Adam and Eve as recorded in Genesis chapter 1. The Bible specifically says that Adam and Eve were the first human beings ever created (Genesis 1:26-28; 2:18-25). This "Lilith" myth is popular in some radical feminist movements because Lilith is an example of a woman refusing to submit to male headship.

You're thinking of Lillith. The reason that she's connected with the story of Adam and Eve has to do with the contradiction in Genesis between the two stories of creation.
In the first story (Gen. 1), it states that Yahve created man and woman at the same time. However, in Gen. 2, it says that Yahve (or Elohim) created Adam first then, later, created Eve from Adam's rib.
Early Jewish rabbis wondered about this. If Yahve created both at the same time but then later took Eve from Adam's rib, who was this other woman and what happened to her?
From this the story of Lillith was concocted. She was created alongside Adam, but was expelled from Yahve's sight because she wanted to be on top during sex.
From there, her legend grew. There are many different myths, but the one I related above seems to be the earliest connected directly with the bible. She is mentioned once in our canonical texts in Isaiah 34:14, though it is translated as "screech owl," an animal represented by her.

You're probably referring to Lilith, but I don't know that she was "removed" from The Bible. Lilith is, I think, a Hebrew myth ... the story goes that she was not created from Adam, but seperately from him, and that she refused to submit to him. There is a verse in The Bible referring to a "screech owl" that some believe to be a reference to Lilith, and she has been mentioned in several other non-Biblical writings throughout history.

No woman was removed from the Bible.
But you are thinking of Lilith, a myth invented by Medieval Judaism to explain the apparent contradiction between the creation accounts in Genesis chapters 1 and 2.

This "Lilith" character was never mentioned in the Bible. after creation of the earth and the universe, Adam was created and then Eve from his side. No lilith. Whoever created this character is adding to the Bible...that's against it..

lilith was never in the bible in the first place. and contrary to what seems to be a popular myth since a whole bunch of people already have stated it as if it were true, lilith was not concocted up to explain certain parts of the bible. the demon lilith originated in sumeria 5000 years ago, she seeped into the legends and folklore of other peoples, and was carried along in these new cultures. there is almost nothing written about her in any source, because frankly, she is just not very relevant.

Lilith was considered to be Adam's first wife. Perhaps it was Lilith and Adam that God created in the first creation story in Genesis, when he created man and woman together.
It is in the second version in Genesis (right after the first) that the story changes and God puts Adam to sleep and creates Eve from Adam's rib.
So, maybe Lilith was just as smart as Eve was, but God decided to get rid of her and try again.
I think you can find out more about her in Jewish texts.

Nothing was removed from the Bible. The Bible was compiled once and for all time at the Council of Carthage in 397 AD, and not a single word has been added, deleted or changed since that time. Except of course in Protestantism, which threw out 7 books and part of another, and added a few words here and there in an effort to support some of their new doctrinal ideas.
