Very good.
In your question you've acknowledged that there IS a God and you're not Him.
Now that you've got that out of the way, how about reading the Bible, taking your vitamins and coming back to Yahoo when you're old enough to grow facial hair or have menstruation depending on your gender.

Only a fool or a mere youth would ask such a simple minded question.

I think that's a great question and from the other answers I've seen most people don't have a clue. The answer is that God doesn't need us to believe in him. This experience on earth was created for our benefit. We're here to learn and to grow.

Imagine if you had a child and you told that child that lying is wrong and will cause suffering. The child may or may not obey, but will generally not understand the principle of honesty until they see how trust is destroyed when people lie.

Our Heavenly Father placed us on earth to help us to understand the true principles of happiness in a way that wasn't as effective in his immediate presence.

I grew up as a loner and did not care what others thought about me. But God does not have that mindset. He love fellowship. He loves company. That is why He created us -- that we may enter into His joy of fellowship:

"That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ" (1 John 1:3).

The believing on Him that He desires in us is that we have the sense that He is trustworthy, that we can depend on Him more than on anything else we have ever depended on in our lives -- whether it be family, possessions, money, hobbies, fame, prestige, and so on. All these things will pass away, but God's goodness and mercy will never pass away.

He desires us to have this kind of faith, so that in the midst of a sin-riddled world we will still have peace (John 16:33). Then He will come and make all things right.

HEATHEN!! BASHEMER!! You know how hard it is to brain wash people with people like you around? Of course an all powerful being wouldn't have any real concerns at all, by definition. The real question is why can't people accept that all religions are just made up?

Ok, you say that if you were "all powerful" you wouldn't care who believed in you. I don't know how old you are, but lets say you have 5 kids. Out of your 5 kids, only one believes you are truly their parent. You try to convince the other 4 that you are their parent; you give them things because you love them; tell them things only you would know about them, and yet, they want nothing to do with you. You love them with all of your being and want them to live with you in your home, but because they don't believe that you are their parent, they don't want to live there. Tell me, how would you feel?

God has no ego.....
Man has an ego.....

Does God believe in us....without a doubt!
Do we believe in God......many doubts!

Man would do a lot of things differently....to what end...just look at us now!

Does God learn from man.....most likely
Does man learn from God.....highly unlikely, unless man develops more "Faith" and seeks a much higher power than himself.

oh yes. because clearly everyone deserves to get to Heaven. clearly a perfect God doesn't like perfection. clearly it would be better if we were all robots incapable of thought, will, emotion or eternity. clearly God should wipe out a constant (evil) thus nullifying good as well. oh yes; what kind of cruel being would make us like Him?

jeez...

Are you asking why God asks you to believe in him, or why his criteria for who gets into Heaven is what it is?

Good point. It is pretty pathetic that people have "free will," but if they make the wrong choice they will go to hell for eternity. Why should god care? This is evidence that god is a pathetic attempt to use fear to control people and get them to contribute to whatever god cause is scaring them.
