you always have this feeling that he/she totally might like you back. But when you ask him/her out, he never liked you. [[This isn't happening now]] but why is this? Just wondering. :)

Ha ha ha... I think its called 'wishful thinking'
and its happening to me right now.... and I know I'm not crazy. He is attracted a little bit to me but not sure how much .. I like to think enough that he will ask me out soon or someday!.... this guy knows i like him and because of that he flirts with me and says things here and there that keeps me interested and wondering!... Guys talk about girls been flirtatious and giving away mixed signals but guys do it just as often!

You see what you want to. When you want something too badly, you choose not to see the bad or uncomfortable things. Stop, take a deep breath, and ask a friend. "When so and so was just over here, did you see anything promising in the way they were acting? Be brutally honest." When they are, don't get mad if you're wrong.

Its called wishful thinking, it happens because you want to be with the person so much, that you tend to ignore any hints that they might not like you, and focus only on the things that might hint that they like you. Hope that helped.

If you look like your portrait it could be cause they arnt into daiting cats :P. Joking aside it could be that you are too good looking, or just seem unobtainable. So they decline any feelings to you to avoid complications even if they have them (im only guessing here).

if u like some one, then you have hopes that they will like u, these "hopes" are strong enough that you "dayream" that it's real. i made it sound confusing, didn't it?
