If a person needs someone to agree with him and accept him before he can feel comfortable, that is a fear that prevents him from being himself without permission from someone else. That is too clingy and others will take advantage of him. In this case, fear does not protect him but may put him at the mercy of others.

calling too much.. wanting to know EVERY thing they do wanting to go every where they go ..getting mad over their friends having time with them ...dont be a parent figure be a mate...and if u think ur too clingy or the person u are with is too clingy then u got issues u need to work out with them not on here

Constant texting
Texting someone more than once... if they don't text back after the first time..
Constant phoning..
Always really 'clingy' as in too touchy feeley..
Always wanting to be with that person all the time (people need space you know?!)
I had a clingy ex..... annoying as hell..

Well...I guess one kind of sign would be to want to hang out with that person (I assume it's a person - right?) ALL of the time and not taking the time for other friends. Of course, this only counts if it's taken to the extreme.

Always wanting to be with your b/f or g/f, never letting them have times to themselves, calling them all the time, just plain ole bugging them too much thats clingy!

calling the person after 5 min you just saw the person. CHecking up on them. asking what theyre doing. wanting to hang out every day

Calling 6 times everyday, texting everytime you have your cell, talking to your bf/gf online too much and hanging onto them when they are trying to have quality time with their friends.
