I do believe that KILLING your dogs, is a bit extreme, no matter what. He should've looked into other options (calling animal control, contacting you, etc.)

You should talk to your local animal control, to see if there is anything you could do.

In the future, keep your dogs on your property. Get his permission before allowing your dogs in his pond, and only allow it when you are there to supervise them.

Too little info here. You are responsible to keep your dogs on you property. As heart breaking as it is did he have geese or ducks or the like? How do you know it was an innocent romp in a pond? Or killing his animals (dogs love to chase fowl that cannot fly like Pekins or Embden geese unless trained well not to). I would do the the same as I used to raise such animals for my family table. Not for dog food.

Private property is such and as the owner you learned that painful lesson. As they say, good fences make good neighbors. And many who have live stock of some sort (I am guessing since a pond and lack of info) often practice a SSS rule to those who will not take control over their animals. Shoot, Shovel, and Shut up. Sad but true.

If this is a farm pond in the middle of a "livestock enclosure" (IE pasture) you have no option but to morn. Leagally in almost every state a dog "harrasing stock" may be shot (if you ever saw the pitiful state a dog can leave a sheep you'd know why) and the only proof needed is that the dog is in the livestock enclosure.

What proof do you have that it was he who killed them? Where are the dog's bodies? You are both at fault here, your dogs should not have been on his property. I don't think his killing them is a good judgment call either. If you have reasonable proof, call the police, or county sheriff if you live out in the country.

Every story has two halves, it would be interesting to hear both sides of this one before saying anything rash. Does the neighbor have ducks nesting on his pond that the dog was chasing???? It is that time of year is why I would ask that.

I would file a police report and sue the hell out of them... That is animal cruelty and no matter how many times I'll have to go to court or how much money i will have to pay for attorney's fees i would not stop until i get my point across and make them pay! I will also look for another apartment or house because if i stay there i would definetly murder them for killing my babies!.... Unless the other person felt he was in danger there is no reason why he would have to put a hand on my babies, let alone kill them!

Call the authorities (local humane society, police, ASPCA) and report it, animal cruelty is against the law in a lot of states.

Then I would sue the neighbor, for damages, including the cost of the animals, and any medical bills incurred as a result, any burial fees, and the cost of replacing the animals! If you can't hire an attorney, file a small claims suit for the maximum amout allowed in small claims courts.

Then, if you replace the dogs, make sure that they are restrained from going out of their own property.

Call Judge Judy!

Calling the police will do nothing. Your dogs were on his property. He had every right to shoot them, regardless of how "extreme" his actions were.
You are actually the one who is in the wrong for not having your dogs properly confined.

Sorry, but I have to say this. I own a dog and I keep him fenced. We have several neighbors that just let their dogs run free. Free to bark at my dog, free to crap by my fence and free to turn my harmless, quiet dog into a psycho dog from hell. I love dogs, but if you can't keep them home, you got what you deserved. If I could shoot my neighbors dogs, I would have years ago.

If you are sure he killed your dogs.
Then its payback time.

Buy 2 or 3 dead chickens in the Supermarket and at night when no one is around, and after he has just cleaned and clorided his pool, throw the three chickens in the pool.
Don't leave any clues.
Buy the chickens somewhere where you will not be traced, don´t keep any purchase bills, burn them. Throw the chickens without their plastic wrapping, plastic reveal fingerprints.

Don´t tell anyone what you are about to do, nor tell anyone afterward. Don´t let anyone see you with the chickens.
