It would mean by many christians as something different.
Usually, though you will hear that God calls for everyone, yet only few actually acknowledge him and are able to go to heaven...
This seems as one of those oddities of the Bible because does it not say everyone who just believes and asks for forgiveness will go to heaven?
Tho if you believe this sentence, you will see that this god is truly senile and cannot keep his own wishes/stories the same time after time..
Good luck with that.

I am not sure, but I think that not many respond to that call, so...remain only few that can be chosen. I don't think that God is so severe. He loves us and wants us to be with Him.
(it also depends on what are they chosen for, or what are they chosen to do).

Everyone is supposed to Serve God and Spread the Knowledge of Truth. But Few are chosen due to lack of sincerity and surrender and who misunderstand the actual truth. For the original New Testament and teachings of Jesus before Constantine changed and deleted so many things from it google gospelofthenazirenes.com If you understand you will be chosen. For sincere seekers of The Truth.

You need to take Jesus seriously. The call goes to many- you can find so called "Christians" all over. They can tell you when the "rapture" will be but don't have any idea to keep from lust, bad language, positive attitude, or knowledge of the Holy. In Rev ch 3 Jesus says to him that overcomes He will not blot out his name from the book of Life. Build your house upon the rock. To be chosen means you excelled- you are special and known intimately by God, doing His will of making disciples. Not merely "believing" and doing nothing to build the Kingdom of Heaven upon earth.

This has to be one of the nuttier bits of the NT, Matthew 22 : 1-14.
It apparently means that if you get hauled off the street to attend a wedding because all of the original guests have been slaughtered by some other bunch of bums, and you turn up wearing the wrong gear, you'll stand a fair chance of being bound and gagged and thrown into the 'abyss' !
It's bad to p*ss off the King, apparently.
Ok ?

Hi Disciple! Well, I think it means that God desires that all be saved, but only few accept his gift of salvation through our lord and savior, Jesus Christ. Hope this helps...Honestly, I'm not sure this necessarily has to relate to religion and spirituality...It could be used in many different aspects of our lives.
God Bless!

jesus told the gospel to everyone but we have free will and only a few really genuinely choose to believe and are chosen by God.

I may be totally wrong in this, but I've always thought it has to do with the calling of the holy spirit, which draws people to God.
Not everyone responds.
