Most parents today, they let their kids get away with everything, they spoil them, and they never take responsibility for their actions.

Parents don't even need to raise their kids "right." They just need to raise their kids. As opposed to dropping them off at the mall and telling them to show up back home before dawn.

This complaint sounds like it comes from the fast food culture: We want food to be easy to get and we want it done rightaway. Similarly, we expect for parents that childrearing will be an easy job, and obtaining well-behaved children is something that will happen quickly: no fuss, no muss.

Well, here's a little fact that may come as a surprise... Children misbehaved before technology was invented. Now it's just that our expectations have changed, we expect it to be easier and we expect quicker results, but the children are made of the same stuff that they always were... There's the real source of disconnect.

Parenting mistakes are not a modern invention, either! Today, it's probably easier to shift the blame for such mistakes, because so many people are involved in raising the children: parents, daycare providers or babysitters, teachers, and even other children have some influence. But none of this prevents mistakes from being made.

It's easier to stand on the outside and criticize such mistakes than it is to let it go: live and let live.

As a parent of "today" I believe how I raise my children is based on all the experiences of life and being raised a certain way. I believe in discipline and then again I was raised that way, its hard for many parents these days as there is so many limitations and right from wrong ways to raise a child. After all parenting doesnt come with a book its about instincts.

ABSOLUTELY...I blame the parents for all the children that act up and do not turn out to be upstanding citizens...I live in a town where it seems like most of the parents let their children do what they want, when they want...it's sad! And I only hope that I hve the ability to raise my daughter as I should!

Of course it would be a better place because kids would have a better sense of family unity, responsibility to others and to themselves, but we also have to look at the media. The adult people who are producing the shock value garbage that's on TV and in music now had parents too. They didn't do such a hot job either in my opinion.

yeah, your right, it would be a better place. But it's not. Now you got tons of teenagers trying to raise children when they are children themselves. A lot of parents are awful parents and their children pay for it and then are bad parents themslves. It's tough because it will never change. There will always be parents abusing/raping etc their kids and then there will always be couples who cant have children who would actually treat them right. Its harsh!

It boils down to this. Too many freakin up-tight parents. It's Pres. Bushes fault. He makes people tense as heck! You can't do anything anymore without someone else breathing down your neck saying you can't do that anymore. Bush needs to leave so the world can get back to normal.

I totally agree. Too bad there isn't a test for people to take before they become parents. LOL

Wow, if only parents REALLY understood that concept....it's not gonna happen. Especially with SO MANY young parents out there...they don't know any better.
