I don't understand on any grounds of logic (I know..his ways are not our ways...but c'mon...logic is logic) why if God is truly real and we are all to bow to and worship him, why would he not from the onset make himself known to all. Why is it just in one tiny corner of the globe that we have the history of that faith and yet through most of the world others have believed different things...and of God's and faiths that are far more peacful than The Christian and Jewish faith. That makes no sense by any stretch.

there is nothing peaceful about the christian religion...... look at the history I hear there will be a documentary on PBS tonight about the inquisitions... you should really see what Christianity was really founded on ..... the only thing that made Christianity appear to be peaceful is the freedom of religion laws.... making Christians accountable to the laws against murder...

You're right, some things about God and the way he chooses to do things always gets me wondering why he does what he does but the bottom line is I love him, I trust him, he loves me and he works to the good of those who love him!!!! He has revealed himself and made himself known to all the world through his Son JC. He is the exact likeness of God, God himself in the flesh. Look at JC and his nature and teachings and there you have it............ God.
God chose that corner of the World because Rome was the centre of greatness and was rising as a great nation. He knew the Gospel would spread throughout this area. Roads were being constructed and Rome ruled entirely. It's all there in the Bible. Christ came to save all. The Israelites were God's people and they rejected his ways and teachings and kept failing again and again. Because of this God included the Gentiles... that's us( not Jews) to also be partakers in his plan for redemption and to also receive his grace and mercy and eternal life. By believing in his Son and his death and resurrection we can have God's favour and be promised an inheritance that is so amazing.... Eternal life, Fellowship with God and an amazing relationship with the living God now!!!! It made sense to me when I found a good Bible teaching church. Some of my questions were answered but didn't need all the answers. I just trust. Through circumstances in my life, the loss of a child, I have clung to Christ and having him and his word has enabled me to move through that event and live with hope. I thank God I knew him before that event, because I am confident in his plan for Eliza and that she lives on. But more then that I will be again with her. It's awesome. God is so great!!! I do think It is healthy to always be investigating and learning but when you don't get the answer you need, dont become hard hearted, just trust!!!!! You can be sure God did all he did exactly the way he wanted it to be and all over the Worlds hundreds of people are turning their eyes to him. It's all a perfect plan and I never questions God's authority.
I hope I have helped you a little and given you some clarity!

I’m not sure why you believe Christianity is not a peaceful religion. Compared to say the Aztec tribes that committed murder on a daily on horrific scale for example.

And as Jesus taught, it’s not about what you don’t know but about what you do with what you do know. The Bible teaches that “God has written His laws in our hearts.” Meaning you know right from wrong, you know you must love your neighbor as yourself, which is to love God that gave this command.

Honestly, it appears you really have little if any understanding of the teachings of Christ. Read the New Testament a few times and let it sink in before you judge Christ as unworthy of your faith. Seek God and you will find Him.

You likely have know idea how much Christian thought permeates your value system. Even by the way you expressed your question indicates to me your values system is based at least in part on Western Christian thought.

Thanks and best wishes in you quest for faith.

Peace, Mike

He does make himself known to all, you just don't understand it. That part of you that says "This is wrong" or that part of you that convicts you when you do bad things, it's part of Him. You are given the choice to seek Him out and get to know Him better, or to ignore Him and reject everything you've been told.

Why do people seek out "religion"?? Have you ever wondered why so many believe it? Everyone has a small "tracking device" in them that tells you to seek God, some call it a higher power, spirits, etc. You are BUILT to know Him, to seek Him out and know the truth. It's your purpose.

As far as it only being in 1 corner of the world, thats easy enough. God told us to go out and spread the word to everyone, He showed a small group and told them to go forth and multiply. He told us to teach others what we learned. We share what He has done for us with others, you have a living person sharing it with you, a personal testimony, to speak for Him. If you saw something amazing, would you share the story with your friends when you saw them? Sure you would, you would be excited to tell them. So it is with us spreading the word, we are excited to tell others of what we have found.

More peacful than christians? Lol. I think it's funny how we are blamed for something that happened to long ago. What if we blamed atheists and agnostics for every war that was ever fought that wasn't for a religious purpose? It would be the same thing as what you are doing now, blaming a group for what someone else did hundreds of years ago (crusades) isn't fair for anyone. If christians are as violent as you say, then why have we not wiped out the non believers in the country? Surely we are so violent and numerous we could easily do so. We haven't, because we aren't. The zeal of the few tarnishes the face of the many, it goes both ways for those who believe and those who don't.

What I would say is that the existence of God can be proved by logic. It is absolutely necessary for an eternal self-sustaining being to exist for anything else to exist; if there weren't, how would anything come to be? (See R.C. Sproul's argument on the Existence of God) Matter cannot arise from nothing. But not only is there a "higher power," it is the higher power of the Bible. The reason why people in one part of the world believing different things than Christianity are not going to be saved is because of divine election and depravity.

When humankind fell into sin in the Garden of Eden, they directly disobeyed the direction of God, thus cutting themselves off from him forever, completely unable to save themselves. The sin was passed on to the whole of human race, who in turn also fell into sin. The punishment for sin is death, so the only way the race could be saved was by Jesus taking the punnishment for everyone (which he could do because he was God and man, so could endure the punishment yet redeem mankind).

The point is that God was under no obligation to choose anyone, but he did choose for himself a people to save because it pleased him to do so. We can never fully understand why, but that is a matter of trusting something much greater than ourselves. No one is worthy, but some are chosen anyway, on no merit of their own.

You're not alone lol. That's religion for you, completely illogical. A person who grows up in a devoutly religious Christian family in Georgia will lead his or her life without any doubt whatsoever that God is completely real. Yet if that very same person was adopted by some wealthy Japanese businessman and his wife and raised as a Bhuddist, they'd have no doubt whatsoever. That's the thing so rediculous, people not raised in the faith never got a chance, yet by the rules they will not be accepted into heaven.

People just view Christianity as so solid because it has such a long historical presence. That means nothing though as to legitimacy. You can't accept logic and be religious. I mean they say only those who accept Jesus Christ into their heart etc. will go to heaven. So what happens to the unlucky kid who was born into a Hindu family in India or a non-religious family in any country? What makes Christianity the right choice over any other religion? People who are religious, are, in 99% of cases either were raised in such an environment or converted after some kind of life problem.

Religious belief is just an exercising in training your mind to dismiss that which doesn't make sense and then label it "faith".

Don't try to understand because there isn't any logical way to do so. You're wasting your breath and thought. You'll just get a deluge of people saying "It was written in John 3:15 that blah blah blah" or "I've felt the presence of God" and so on. Never anything verifiable.

It's just popular because people want the happy ending. Who wouldn't want to climb aboard an ideology that says when you die you live forever in paradise in exchange for loving Jesus? The easy answer is the one people want.

Hi,
Each to their own but I have found through life, that if you properly and in depth read the Bible, there really is much truth and useful advise in it for all aspects of life.
Of course, things are always open to different interpretations, but I discovered my making bloopers, as we all do, that it is wise to when you have a problem, to see what the Bible has to say about it. I found 2 books very useful and they are called "inside in the Scriptures". Also a book named "the knowledge book" is extremely handy when pondering over what "is real and what isn't".
Feel free to contact me more if you are interested in getting these, and I will give you the address.
Take care.

If God appeared to you today, would you believe that it's God? Chances are, you'll scream like hell and people will say that you have become insane.

If you want God to make himself known, look at everything around you. Imagine the size of the universe. Realize how complicated your body is. Understand there are billions of people in the world, who are all unique and so different from each other. Think of the many magnificent things there are in life.

That is the creation of God.

Becaus God put us all in the best situation that we may feel our way toward Him. If God was just made widely known and he watched us all to make sure that we ALL worshiped HIm, he would be a dictator, not a Savior.

The Gospel has been preached throughout all the world, people worship whomever they will, doesnt mean that they dont know about God.free will, and we will all be held accountable. I remember hearing a story about when Hellen Keller was told about Jesus for the first time, J-E-S-U-S was signed into her hand - she signed back so thats what his name is .

You will have to take that up with Abram of Ur, the patriarch of the Judeo-Christian theology.

According to him, 'God' behaves just like a Jewish tribal leader and patriarch of his time, and wants to be used primarily to preserve the patriarchy.

This is not only illogical, it doesn't make sense.

Even the primitive peoples who worshipped the sun had a more logical basis for their actions than those of the Judeo-Christian/Islamic bent.
