like in WHICH way do they pick it?
personally I prefer the index finger. I keep the nail nicely trimmed and filed so there aren't any jagged edges. Sometimes I have to dislodge that bad boy when it's WAY up there and I use my pinky finger so I am able to reach WAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYY back and pull it loose.
Then I flick it as far as I can going stricktly for distance.
which way do you pick YOUR nose?

Actually, they pick their, not "there" noses....
People probably pick their noses to clear the passages of the nose and feel more comfortable.
Not all cultures find it disgusting.
It is not polite in the US, that is for sure. I say it is OK to do in private.

I think it is instinctive actually. Before there was Kleenex you had to get them out some how. Otherwise you couldn't breath properly.
