I really want people to stop saying that our military is all volunteer because it is bogus. Our brave men and women go our there and do their duty, and our politicians need to stop shafting them. Stand beside the people who stood beside you Mr. Bush. Stop screwing around! Bring them home.

The only thing that is voluntary is the enlisting part.

Please get a brain...when you join the military or the reserve you do so knowing the consequences and sign up for a certain amount of time...some even join during the war and want to serve their country and protect their countrymen from people that will kill them. If you don't understand this you will soon if we pull out of Iraq now. Start reading the history books about World War 2 and ask yourself if you would have liked to live under Hitler. Read how Churchill and the British stood up to the Germans, and how one person like Hitler had a whole nation adore him, kill for him, commit acts that were so terrible they are unbelievable. This is the same insanity of the terrorists as they blindly follow their leaders. After you have educated yourself you will appreciate a leader like Bush who will not surrender to the terrorists, because to do so we would end up living in fear forever and the terrorists would kill anyone who didn't convert to their way of thinking. Just like if Hitler won WW 2 a lot of us wouldn't be alive today. Our parents unless they were a pure bred aron German, would be dead and we would not have been born. Who is brainwashing you? And what history do you have to back up your view?

I am in the military and so is my husband. We both volunteerd to join the military. We also realize that at any point we will be sent off to war, which we both have been to Iraq. We swear to serve our country and to defend it against all enemies foriegn and domestic. My feelings on the war on Iraq does not reflect my commitment to this country and my branch of service. I believe we have lost more lives than needed and wish no family had to go through the hardship of losing a loved one. The reality is it happens and to know that they gave their life for their country, the ultimate sacrifice. I salute them and give high honors and respect. I don't how many people that would do that besides those I serve with. In our orders it states "until the mission is complete." Iraq is a mission we have yet to complete. So we will stay there until the mission is complete. Instead of shooting down our President support the soldiers and families that give their lives. SUPPORT THE TROOPS!

Are you serious? The Military is all Volunteer, but when we sign up we sign contracts which are either 4 or 6 years, depending on what service you go into, so we have to serve that time before we can leave the service.

For the same reason you cant just give your car back to the bank 2 years into a 5 year loan and expect everything to be ok.

If you knew the amount of money put into training a soldier you wouldnt want them walking off when the time was due either while they reaped the benifits in times of peace.

SPC.Burn's hit the nail on the head.

The Guard Knowledge Online website has a section to volunteer to deploy.

I hold 3 critical skill's. 19D,11B and 11C. With all the deployments in Iraq,Afghan,Balkan's(Bosnia,Kosovo...), Gitmo, Southwest boarder I cant find ONE OPEN SLOT.

Something tell's me nobody polled the troop's on what they believe in, what they want. Nobody has asked me or anyone I know.

Just be glad your security isnt left in your hands.

Sorry for the wife's SN.

lol, is that even a question? goto canada if you truly believe that. and it IS a volunteer military. You have the choice to join or DON'T. you know what you are getting into when you sign up, and after you sign the contract you are property of the government, which you know before you swear in. If soldiers had choice to leave whenever they want what would get done? our military would be a joke

It is an all volunteer military, I joined of my own free will nobody put a gun to my head it was my choice, Just like it was the choice of every Sailor,Airman,Solider,And Marine.
But you sign a contract, and you cant just walk away, can you just walk away from an apartment if you get tired of it? no why? because you sign a contract. When you are done with your tour in the Military then you have two choices, Walk away, or reenlist, Again it is your choice.

The answer is quite simple. Entry into the military is contractual. When a person joins, they sign a legally binding contract for a certain amount of time that they mutually agreed upon. Anyone that tries to leave prior to the agreed upon date is attempting to break a contract.

They sign a contract.

It IS an all volunteer military. But they are contracted for a certain amount of time....

Why don't you listen to the military folks and see what THEY want to do?

2007-05-09 13:07:16 · answer #9 · answered by Anonymous · 4 0

They volunteered to sign the contract saying they will be committed for 4yrs.

Guess what? We've been in Iraq for more than 4yrs. Everyone who has re-enlisted and has enlisted since then has known what they are getting into.

Troops don't want to get out of Iraq. So stop saying this "Bring them home" BS.

(Actually, they signed a contract for 8yrs, but IRR isn't being called up.)

When you join the military you join knowing you could go to war. You sing a contract stating you will defend your country and not run because you change your mind. People like you do not support the troops. You obviously don't know what it means to enlist and serve your country.
