how many out there believe in some kind of "higher power" or "order" in the universe... and what do you think it is?

just curious, since most of the stuff here deals with either atheism or christianity...

I think a lot of people are just "spiritual" which is the term i think you're looking for here. They don't like organized religion, but still believe in God, or whatever higher power. I am searching at the moment, but still go to church so i might count. I believe in one God, a god that is present in most religions around the world. He can go by the name of Zeus, or Jupiter, Allah, Brahman, Odin or just God.

Yes, I believe that there is a 'higher power' behind this splendid production we call ( for the time being ) the Universe.

However, to explain it I have to ask you to step outside every basic principle of the physical world as you know it. We are raised to believe it 'stuff', we live, they say, in a material Universe. That does, indeed, appear to be true. However, if you look into the current stage of thinking within physics you will find that the ',material' is not nearly as 'solid' as we have all been taught to believe.

It appears that it is the observer that contributes as much to the observed as the manifested 'stuff' itself does. This almost certainly sounds completely loopy, if it's the first time you've come across it, but really, quantum mechanics is making leaps and bounds in rearranging how we 'see' the world around us.

So, how does this 'new' system work ? It is human or, if you prefer a less homo-centric noun, sentient thought which is the catalyst that turns energy into matter, in other words the Higgs-Boson particle, the one that physicists are calling the 'God' particle, is us, acting on the energetic framework of the Omniverse to manifest all of our dreams and some of our nightmares as well.

In other words, the 'Higher Power' is us, or at least, individually we are it's 'local' representatives, and collectively, as the 'One' we are that, that famous old 'I am'.

No 'Gods', no 'Devils' no dogma, no rules, just us, just right. ;-)

The universe itself is unfathomable. When you think you understand the universe it throws a new dimension into the mix. The more you talk of the universe the less you realize you understand.

Don't you realize the word "Universe" and "God" is synonymous? Has it ever occurred to you the universe is not to be understood?

Pondering the universe's origins is mental masturbation that only has fleeting moments of clarity and is replace with even more questions.

I will say this, the only constant in the universe is creation. All sentient beings are part of creation and is creative. The universe is the collected consideration of yours, mine, and everyone else's agreement. Through out the entire universe of trillions and trillion of self aware being both in physical form and none physical form, together create the universe and continues to create all there is based on simple laws of consideration and agreement.

The only limitations exist in your own mind in the form of a belief system. Once you realize who and what you really are this will bring you closer to understanding the universe and pave the path the way to a greater knowledge and wisdom and truth.

Love is creation and creation comes from love. The belief in a God limits your own ability to create yet that belief is creative in nature.

Jennifer not everyone believes in the higher power our lord our Savior Jesus Christ. When you substitute the faith, hope, and most importantly Love any thing I say will sound like some fanatic lunatic women,

but precious I would be wrong to try to force it on you, but I would be even more wrong not to tell you about his love.

He died for our sins a blameless heart and sacrifice himself so that we may have a chance with happiness. Miracles happen every day and it starts when God created this world and was able to even care for the birds in the sky.

Our body alone is a miracle. If by chance we were able to separate every part of our body and put back to together again exactly the same way. there would be something missing our spirit our soul. God bless Love and Amen.

Yes Absolutely One God with many Names (Krishna,Allah, Jehovah, Vishnu, etc) The proof is - everything that exists was made by someone. For example your watch- someone had to make it work. they used all the elements that exist to create the watch. Similarly everything that is going on in the World and universe was made by someone and that Someone is the Supreme Person whom which everything emanates. His original form and name is Krishna. Gods form is Eternal, And Unlimited and not made of any material elements. Our eternal spiritual Body (beyond the material body or Vehicle we are presently in) is eternal and not made of material elements. We have all the qualities of God just not in the same quantity. Like a drop of water in the ocean has all the qualities of the ocean but never becomes the whole ocean. I do believe in intelligent design to the universe and some sort of higher power. My personal belief though is that through the ages it is man who has attempted to fathom that entity and has done only what falls into the parameters of his own mind. I don't think we are even capable of understanding the complexity and grandeur of the creator or creators.
