I love mutts, they don't cost much and therefore you can spend more $$ on their health, well-being, and stuffed pink piggies (my dog prefers any pink pig you bring home, over all her other "color and breed" of toy...how does she know?) =)
If I ever did get a pure breed, I would love to have an Irish Wolfhound, they are just so beautiful and majestic. A Wheaten Terrier is a nice mid-sized dog, and they don't shed much.
But, my favs have always been Lab Retriever mixes.

American Pit Bull Terrier, Miniature Pinscher, Doberman Pinscher & a Wemariner-all gorgeous dogs.

I prefer large breeds of mutts. Some of them are so ugly they're cute, and others are absolutely adorable you can almost never get another dog that looks like they do because they have so many breeds mixed into them.
My favorite dog was a puppy of one of my mutts, we believed him to be half coyote. Excellent dog.
Purebred dogs, I prefer Alaskan Malamutes or Miniature Schnauzers.

Oh boy, it would probably be a toss-up between the Icelandic Sheepdog, Shiba Inu, or Swedish Vallhund. I like rare, ancient breeds. :-)

cocker spaniel - never own one - but all the people I have met who have them - they brag and after meeting their dogs, I agree. These dogs have to be one of the most intelligent breeds I have ever seen
