I have a great dane who has been plagued with health probs since I rescued him 4 mos ago. I was referred to a speclist by my reg vet, who thinks very highly of him. She warned me that he's bad about returning calls on follow up - HA! It's been over a month since my $700 visit (paid in cash) and I have yet to get a call back to find out if my dog's problem is life threatening or needs meds. (Kidneys) I AM FURIOUS! I have made at least a dozen calls to his office in the month since we visited. Even my reg vet has called at least twice. Still nothing. They told my reg vet that they didn't have my correct number and would be calling me this past Monday. Nope. I called twice today alone. I've never even been rude with these people. Today I requested that my records be sent to me.
I am writing him a letter, but is there an assoc I can write to or somewhere to report him? I can't imagine anyone else going thru this. My dog is still bleeding, I'm broke, and we have to start over!

The initial experience was wonderful. He was like Dr. Doolittle! I was sooo impressed. That's why it makes no sense.
And the lame excuse of not having my number... PLEASE! I left a ton of messages with my number and my vet called as well.
As far as why I haven't gone back....I had to travel almost 200 miles north to go to him and he worked us in very quickly because I was about to move 850 miles south! Since our visit, we have made that move. Now we live almost 1000 miles away! Otherwise, I would be driving my car through the building!

Have you tried going there? I would have LONG been there and confronted him in person.
If for some reason there's a good excuse as to why you haven't went in person, i would take it to several places:
-Better Business Bureau
-American Association Of Veterinary State Boards: http://www.aavsb.org/ (They take complaints)
-If he's a member, the American Veterinary Medical Association
-Your State Board of Veterinary Medicine (i.e. I'm from Virginia, so it's http://www.dhp.state.va.us/vet/)
-At your local court house you can file a complaint, and there's some form you can fill out if you feel you're owed money too....
Hope that helps....
I would seriously make a trip to the Vet's office, confront him, tell him that if you don't get your results, or your file, you will be contacting all of these agencies, as well as your local news media... Our local news station does a special piece on citizens and complaints they file every evening. Many businesses around here know that if you mention this particular news station, they will get their acts straight.

Definitely go to the vet's office face to face and find out what's going on. Your first priority is to get your dog taken care of. Also, you can go online to avma.org (American Veterinary Medical Association). I'm sure you could report the vet on that site. Also, another site I found was greatdanefoundation.com. Maybe you'll find info there on your dog's medical problem. It so hard when your dog is sick and needs medical attention. It can get so expensive. Make sure to mention all the medical procedures you've had done when you go to the next vet and tell them the expenses you've paid out recently. Hopefully they'll work out a payment plan with you. (I know that they never want to do that, but if you can put some money down, they might be more agreeable.) I wish you and your dog well.

I would contact the BBB (better business bureau) and also contact an attorney. This guy is def. flaky and something needs to be done about it. I would also take my dog to a vet and get his problems fixed now... if you open up a suit on this guy the cost of going somewhere else should be included in your suit. Good luck and i hope everything turns out well with your dog <3

Every vet has to be certified by your state. Call your department of agriculture and file a complaint. Also I believe there is a board of veterinary review check with the state for their address or phone number. I hope you get some satisfaction and find out whats wrong with your Dane.

You can file a small claims against him to for the money you have wasted there. You can also contact a local news channel who does short stories like this when people have trouble with various businesses. A spot on the news might get his attention.
Sorry you ae having so much trouble and I hope you can get you boys problems figured out soon. Good Luck.

Registered letter (notarized) with return receipt asking the records be mailed to you or to your vet. (Enclose stamped envelope) In most states it is not LEGAL to refuse this request. State has licensing board for vets or there is the American veterinary medical association.
PS when I hear Great Dane & Kidney my reflex is to ask if Addisons disease has been ruled out, because Danes have a high addisons rate.

I would be in that guy's office in a heartbeat - what he's doing is inexcusable. Go down there and demand to speak with someone (if not him). I'm surprised he hasn't been sued over a wrongful death of an animal! I'd have some choice words for the vet that referred people to this guy too...

If you are in the UK you can report him to the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. There are similar organisations all over the world depending on where you are.
I hope you get your answer soon for your dogs sake.
