Orthostatic hypotension - Low blood pressure when standing up. When you are sitting or lying down, your heart doesn't need to pump so hard to get blood to the brain - it doesn't have to push it uphill so far. But when you sit up it hasn't had a chance to pump enough blood to compensate for gravity pulling the blood downwards, so you don't get enough to your brain for a little bit, and you get dizzy etc.
