Isaiah the prophet said:

'Go and say to my people,
You will hear my words,
but you will not understand;
you will see what I do,
but you will not perceive its meaning.
FOR THE HEARTS OF THESE PEOPLE ARE HARDENED,
and their ears cannot hear,
and they have closed their eyes-
so their eyes cannot see,
and their ears cannot hear,
and their hearts cannot understand,
and they cannot turn to me
and let me heal them.'

Romans
Chapter 1

The Guilt of Mankind

18For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; 19because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath showed it unto them. 20For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: 21because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. 22Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, 23and changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and four-footed beasts, and creeping things.

24Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonor their own bodies between themselves: 25who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.

26For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: 27and likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was meet.

28And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; 29being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, 30backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, 31without understanding, covenant-breakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: 32who, knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

That was written almost 2 thousand years ago. It carries as much weight, and truth, today as it ever did. We see these things daily, manifest before our eyes. This is the reason why.

Dear and beloved Dawn,

Although most of the Bible makes sense to me, I´ve often wondered about the difficulty most people find to get some sense out of the Bible.
Why do I (a millions of others) think the Bible is extraordinary, that we can hear God´s voice through the Bible, that one can discover so many wonderful things about love, about oneself, about others, about God through this wonderful book, others (millions) reject it, make fun of it, say they do not understand it, reject it, etc.

Among those who love the Bible are illiterated people and very knowledge people, very poor people and millionaires, etc. and all the spectrum of people in between.
The same thing occurs with the people that do not care or hate the Bible.

Where is the differential?

The text you cited does not cover all my wondering.

Dear Dawn, you are somebody that is deeply involved in the work of Christ.
So, may be you can help me understand: who does hardens the hearts, close the eyes, deafen the ears of the people?
Is it, as the text and some others imply, God?
Is it the enemy of our souls?

If it is God, then WHY He doesn´t them to hear, to understand, etc.?

THIS doesn´t make sense to me!

With great love from a sister in Christ.

C.//

Exactly. Be innocent as a child with spiritual eyes when reading the Bible as instructed by Jesus Christ, and then the Bible will make sense and there will be no contradictions to the spiritual truth once it is revealed.

I did same and was Baptised of the Holy Spirit 18 hours later, with wisdom and fire, and brought to enlightenment of our true nature. This is how the Bible must be read to fully understand and grasp its spiritual truth.

PS. This is coming from someone who saw nothing BUT contradictions in the Bible my whole life. Now I know there are none. Now I know that God and Science/Evolution compliment each other as well!

Yes, I have often told others about this-- how the spiritual things are not understood by the world.
Because they are "not of God" as He says.
John 8:47
Whoever is of God hears the words of God. The reason why you do not hear them is that you are not of God."
John 10:27
My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.

-And only God can turn someone to "hear" His voice and understand His word! And He does! As we who love the Lord continue to share His truth- as Romans 10:17 says "Faith comes from hearing and hearing the word of God"
Amen!

Maybe they don't understand it because they haven't prayed before they read it for understanding and they don't believe in the Lord therefore it's not going to make sense.

THE HOLY SPIRIT is why it makes sense to others! IF you are not a Christian you dont have that guidance! Therefore you dont understand the WORD of GOD!

1 Timothy 4:8
"Godliness has value to everything"

We need to give it time. There is no shortcuts to a spiritual maturity. And we need to ask the Holy Spirit to guide us. : )

There are spirits in this world that try to combat the knowledge of Jesus. Spirit of fear, of blindness, of deaf. The hearts that are true...... God will bless !But, for some reason, evil is evident, and everyone MUST determine for themselves ......
Which one will you choose ? Good or, Evil !?!?
