In the Genesis story, your god tells Adam and Eve that the day
they eat from the tree of knowledge they will surely die (Gen 2:17).
The devil tells them that they will not die, but that their eyes would be opened and they would know the difference between good and evil (Gen 3:5).
Wasn't Satan telling the truth here?
Justify your answer in light of Jeremiah 20:7 and Ezekiel 14:9.

Ive tried this Malcolm. The going excuse is that God didnt say they would die RIGHT THEN, but that they would die eventually. Apparently, before that time, no one ever died...just like rainbows didnt occur before the flood.

No God is not a liar.
A half truth is a kin to a lie. You know that Satan is the father of lies. His word is deceitful. Yes it was true that eating that fruit would open their eyes. That is just what it did. Yes it is true that eating that fruit would surely have them die. They have been dead for a long time haven't they?
Satan wouldn't tell Eve the whole truth, just enough to kill her.
So now we know that there is evil, and there is good. But we eventually die in our lives. Fortunately it is only once, then our judgment.
When you are at God's feet on judgment day: will you then ask God....."are you a LIAR"?

In the Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve had the chance of living forever. But Satan decieved them and they blew it for all humanity. God was not lying; Adam and Eve didn't die right away, but they still died.
As for God putting the tree with the forbidden fruit in the Garden, that was necessary. He was giving Adam and Eve a choice. Be with God, or be separate. God doesn't treat us like puppets, so that's why he always gives us a choice. He's always willing to give anybody a second chance.

Right. Both Satan and God told the truth, in that story, but with slightly different intentions.
We're the same way today: most of the time, we'll only believe Satan when he's telling us the truth.
So we learn that "lies" and "truth" can be a little more deep than simple fiction versus fact. We also look at their intent, and their results.

No God is not a liar. He wasn't meaning a physical life ending death. He meant a spiritual death which did occur because prior to that time, Adam and Eve were pure as the driven snow to coin a phrase until the ate. When they disobeyed God they sinned therefore were no longer pure and died a spiritual death to pureness and stepped into humaness.

If GOD were to ever lie one time, everything including HIM would cease to exist.
Now, Adam and Eve died "Spiritually" Instantly when they disobeyed.
(GOD quit living in them and flowing through them--which is Spiritual Life.)
They died Spiritually and passed this Spiritual Death down to all of US.
Thus, since Adam, Eveybody is born Damned.
"Damned" meaning Disconnected from GOD "Spiritually".
Took satan bout' 1000 years to kill Adam "Physically".
Adam was never suppose to die Physically.
Thats what happens when you let "FEAR" into something GOD Creates.
Fear starts the Curse agoing.
One DAY GOD is agonna take all of the FEAR outta this Thing.
Then, it will Finally be Over With.

Do you think God's original purpose was to create humans, have them live a little while and then die? Adam and Eve DID die, because they rebelled against plain instructions that God gave them.

It meant that their *souls* would die, that they would NOT have the everlasting life God has promised to everyone. And I got news for you, pal...He is your God too. You just ignore Him and don't believe in Him. You'll find out someday and I feel sorry for you when that happens. Call me all the names ya want...we'll see who'll be laughing later. Now prove THAT.
