You and your b/f need to take back the control of your lives and your home. Tell her she has to go and set a deadline. Who cares what others make think of you? If they have a problem with this, then they need to invite this woman to stay at their place.

Your problem is not the mother-in-law, it's your boyfriend. The simple answer is that he doesn't want to tell her it's time to go. By the way, this is going to be the way things are for the next 40 years, if you marry this guy. If he won't stand up to his mom now, what makes you think he will when you are married? My advice to you is move out. You shouldn't be shacking up with him anyway. He will have to choose between you or his mom. If his mom wins, you have dodged a bullet.

You have to tell her straight up how you feel no matter what. It sounds like she has issues alright. Even if the family and her are mad at you for a while it will blow away. The only other alternative, if your lease is up, is for the two of you to move out and leave her there.

How old is she? After all, if she is really your prospective mother-in-law, you should respect her too. Find a good time and have his son to communicate with her.

If you want her out, you have to have your boyfriend tell her or you have to move out yourself. Those are your only choices.
