You don't say how old you are, how tall you are, or your current weight... without that info it's nearly impossible to tell you what a good diet is for you...but you usually shouldn't go under 1200 calories a day EVER...Your best bet is to keep a food diary of all the calories/foods you eat during the day, and stick to their alloted portion sizes, and eat a balanced diet, such as allowing yourself dairy, grains, and fruits and veggies. You can't starve your body to lose the weight and expect to stay healthy, or even alive. As long as you don't fall below 1200 calories for a day, you should be fine. If you're losing about 1-2 lbs a week (an occasional 3 lb week is ok), you're on a healthy diet. If it's coming off quicker, up your calories a little. If you lose it too fast, you're losing more muscle then fat, and risk making yourself sick or anorexic. And, as soon as you start eating healthy again, you'll gain it all back and then some.

What you posted is a good way to lose weight fast and short term. For long term you definately need more protein and, well more food, in your diet.

For years I made the mistake of thinking the less I ate the better. Remember when you do this your body thinks it is being starved so it shuts down and holds on to the fat it has! So after a quick loss you then end up starving, not eating then when you eat again you will gain it all back.

I found that by cutting carbs and sweets but eating good sized well balanced meals, I steadily lost and kept weight off. Unless Vegan, I'd add at least one meal of chicken, fish or lean meat served with lots and lots of veggies. They are healthy for you and you won't gain weight from them.

Hard to give specifics without knowing more about you, but that is WAY too little food. You will end up anemic, without energy and as I said it won't be a lasting weight loss. Just eat good balanced meals, remove breads, potatoes, rice, pasta and sweets. Cook lean meats, remove skin from chicken, but eat well. That is how to lose weight and keep it off!

And be sure to drink lots of water...that really does help!

Anything that is fried is bad for you, it keeps the fat. The best food is whole grains, oatmeal, cereal. Also a lot of fruits and veggies. Eat healthy snacks like rice cakes and wheat thins are great. Protein is a must, it keeps that energy up, steak, chicken, rice, peanuts and tuna are some examples. A tip is when you exercise in the morning you burn more calories throughout the day. Green tea can also help with weight loss, I lost about two inches off my waist, with these foods, water, and plenty of exercise. Good luck!

You need to cut out the trail mix, add some lean protein and some fresh veges to the mix. To lose weight you need to expend more energy (calories) than you bring in. Your body type may indicate whether a higher carb, low protein diet is the way to go or whether you need more protein, lower fat, and fewer complex carbs to operate efficiently. I'd opt for a breakfast with fresh fruit, 1 lean protein, and a complex carb. For lunch I'd include a chopped vege salad, more lean protein, and your green tea. For dinner, I'd have lean protein, veges, complex carb and for snax, I'd consider a combination of a lean protein, complex carb and a fruit. Keep your portions on the smaller side and drink 8 glasses of water a day.

I am not a nutritionist, but this sounds horrible to me.
You said breakfast.....good, but did not say amount of cottage cheese, a better choice would be 1 piece of whole grain toast with 1 T. lowfat cottage cheese mushed on the toast and broiled (kind of like a cheese spread.....and you can add garlic powder, green onion or whatever or even add a slice or tomato. Gives you some protien and carbs to start you day. Fruit is good.
Lunch should be more than a snack.......or you might be starving by dinner time. A good choice would be a small amout of protien.....either chicken/nuts or 1oz of cheese on a green salad with a cup of clear soup.......either with or without veggies. (creamed soups defeat the purpose).
Dinner or lunch should have a healthy dose of either raw or steamed veggies........with at least 1-2 oz protien.......chicken, pork, veal, beef, or fish. Dressings could include non or lowfat anything you like, as long as you use it as a condiment, not drenching.
Snacks of fruit are good, but high in natural sugars, so a better choice would be raw or lightly steamed veggies.
When dieting.......don't think you have to deprive yourself of everything all at once. A little (and I do mean ONE little cookie after lunch would be ok).
Don't forget to drink lots of water, and excersise.
Good luck on your weight loss goal.

It depends on how much you weigh. You can lose weight if you keep to 1200 calories. But those 1200 calories should consist of good low fat foods, such as vegtables, fruits and lean meats. What you ate seems ok--but not very balanced.

Try out www.sparkpeople.com. You can either follow their plan or use your own. They use graphs and charts to show where your calories are coming from, how much protein, fat, carbs (or whatever else you want it to keep track of) you are eating compared to how much you should be eating. It's free, so it wouldn't hurt to check it out! Good luck! (by the way, it doesn't seem like you're getting near enough protein.)

To keep it simple, your breakfast was fine. Eat 6 small meals & 3 good snacks. Your snack choices are excellent. My personal trainer says for lunch and dinner, start with raw vegetables or salad, eat all you care to eat, then go to cooked vegetables, eat all you care to eat. If you are still hungry eat lean meat. If you are still hungry then eat brown rice, lentils, barley or other carbohydrates. Try to avoid potatoes unless you eat sweet potatoes, those are fine. Try to avoid white rice too. If you decide to eat just 3 medium sized meals, then you divide your plate in half. On one half put all vegetables, on the other half, divide that in half again, so you have meat & carbohydrates on the other half. Remember you can eat all the vegetables you want. So if you get hungry go for the veggies. Hope this helps. Good Luck.

depends on your weight and height........if you're about 5' to 5'4" you should only have 1000 calories a day.
the granols tends to be high in caloric value. maybe have one small bowl in the morning sometimes for a change, and have a salad and small meal, 1 pork chop and veggie, or 1 med burger and with a whole grain roll.
good luck
