soo i have wanted wanted a 1966 or 67 Ford mustang for a long time. and i need a car so my parents said they would give me about 2500 dollars towards one.

the only problem is my mom decided she doesnt want to pay for an unsafe car, and since mustangs dont have air bags or shoulder belts, and are old and break down easy, she is thinking about not giving me money for it.

how do i convince her it is a semi-safe car?? anyone have any safety reports or reasons a mustang is safe??

yeah if you can read i said 2500 TOWARDS one. meaning i realize i will be paying for most of it myself.

also if i really wanted a new car i wouldnt be asking this. dont be annoying.

Tell her this something like this... "Did you ever realize that if you push a little on the side of a new car it flexes in and out? You're going to tell me that a newer car is safer than this car, which is made of sturdy metals?" Good luck convincing your mom to give you money for it! The 1964 1/2-1966 Mustang is my favorite car of all time, and I really hope you get one! :-)

The '67 has added safety equipment that the '66 does not have. In '68 they added shoulder belts, and they were optional in '67 so they can be added.

Tell you mom it is a substantial car made from heavy American steel, not the imported crap they use today. Remind her that because of the high cost of gas and poor gas milage of a vintage V8, you will not drive it very much and when you do you will drive slow and thus reduce your risk of having an accident.

Good luck

As a young driver, you are better off getting something safer to start with. There are no air bags and ABS systems on the car.

If you're trying to get a 66 Stang for 2,500, then you won't get much and you will need a bunch of money to keep it running. It wouldn't hurt to have a couple of years of driving under your belt before you start something like this, that you want to be a daily driver.

Think about what I suggested, and good luck to you either way.
