It's an annointing, a gift from God.. God's power is passed through the touch and strongly impacts the person being touched...

Benny Hinn doesn't do it . It's the work of the Holy Spirit. If you've been to his meetings or watched enough of his shows on T.V., you'll see many instances of people falling under the power without Benny touching them. Sometimes people are healed but no one is ever the same because they've actually experienced a tiny "zillionth" of the power of God.
As far as how it happens: First, Benny Hinn has been called by the Lord to serve Him. Benny has accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior, been water baptized(after believing in and accepting Jesus as Lord), baptized in the Holy Spirit , has received this gifting from the Lord and tithes, worships, fasts and prays diligently.
To understand more, you'd have to read some of his books, like Good Morning Holy Spirit.

When the Power of God comes over you, sometimes you fall backwards, sometimes you fall on your face before God and sometimes you are brought to your knees. Some people laugh, some People cry and some people just stay silent. It all depends on what God is doing in a persons life that day. I have fell backwards and nobody has pushed me down not at a Benny Hinn convention but when I was being prayed for at Church.

Your dad is probably telling the truth. It happened to me and my brother and sister and cousin last August in Texas. He didn't actually touch me. He had everyone hold hands and Benny went down each row and touched the person on the end and said something like, "Lord, give this row a healing ministry, and this row, and this row..." and when he touched my brother, who was on the end, I felt EXTREME power shoot through me and I just collapsed along with the rest of my family who had felt it too! And then after about 30 seconds, I started feeling his burning feeling in my hands, and i felt like I had fire burning in my hands and on the tips of my fingers! It was sooo intense and very real. A lot of people might think it is staged, but I know now that the Holy Spirit is more real than anything else!

even with the actual shown truth that I disagree with Benny Hinn's teachings, I settle for Benny Hinn's miracles as valid and as manifestations of the Holy Spirit. maximum pastors, God stops making use of them after many years. yet no longer Benny Hinn. compared to Kathryn Kuhlman, who needed the honor of God for herself, Benny Hinn provides God the honor, it really is why he remains operating miracles at present.

i went to a Benny Hinn crusade in 92
I was seated many rows away from the stage so what happened to me was real.
When the power of God came upon the crowd, I felt electricity go through my body.. I too was suspicious that maybe he pushed the people as he prayed but I saw a man fall under the power of God that I know he didn't have a hand on, so it wasn't staged

Benny Hinn doesn't do it. It is the power of the Holy Spirit working through Hinn that causes this. Its called "slaying in the spirit". Many other preachers also have this anointing.

What he is feeling is a severe form of stage fright that is a psychological side effect of "intense group pressure". If a huge group of people is expecting you to act a certain way, and you feel that they will be visibly upset or dissapointed if you do not behave that way, psychologically it's almost impossible for you to resist. It's a form of manipulation that is used mostly in religious settings such as cults, etc.. but it is well documented.
