We can all memorize and regurgitate..but, personal, heart felt responses from real life happenings may have more impact.

How about an intellectual answer based on something more than the Bible?

If you are trying to reach those that do not believe in the Bible...what good is quoting from a source that they do not acknowledge as being sound?

if one doesn't believe in God...they will not believe in the Bible...eventhough, you accept it's inerrancy..does not mean other's do...so you try to argue about apples...when they have asked a question about oranges...

Isaiah 8:20 To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.

You go and try to learn the WHOLE Bible and regurgitate it at will.
Then you can make statements about your intellectuality.
We don't care what you believe about it's soundness, it is the truth. DUH!
When some whack job makes a claim based on the Bible, To truly refute it you have to go to the source.
Saying Jesus likes apples is not a good answer.

Let me get this straight. Someone asks a question on Religion & Spirituality site and you take the word of a faceless blogger for an answer?

I am as big a fan of reason and logic as anyone and use them in my answers but for an authority I prefer something that has proved accurate and reliable, the Bible.

Perhaps their goal of quoting the Bible, and giving the reference is; to demonstrate it is not their 'personal opinion' presently in the question answer.

I agree with you. If you use only the Bible, what if someone doesn't use the Bible. The Bible itself says to use not only the Bible, but oral tradition. It's in Corinthians somewhere. I try to find good, sound, logical, and reasonable arguments for my religious points I'm trying to make.

I quote frequently from the bible because that is the real truth. My opinion is not as true as the word of God.

The Bible isn't just for "religious" folks; it's guidance and counsel can be beneficial for all.
