The MoD probably have it on file somewhere, try them.

How can a person forget their service number indeed?

When I joined up aged 15 in 1957, my number was bashed into my brain on day one. Anyone who could not remember their number the following day spent an hour running around the square holding a rifle at the high port.

No thanks - 23473590.

What? Nobody ever forgets their Service Number!!

Try the Army Records Office in Glasgow - they are the people who will hold your old Record of Service etc.

I honestly can not believe that you have forgotten your service number. I left the Forces 28 years ago and I still know mine.
It is a number that you never forget - oops sorry, you did lol.

I have never heard of anyone that forgot their service number! ever!
I dont care which service, you had to use your last four(numbers) daily from boot camp onwards. If you remember those and recite them in your head a couple of times the rest will come to you.

how anyone can forget their army number is unbelievable, you have it drummed into you 24/7 through out training so that you remember it for the rest of your life.

However maybe go into your recruiting office and ask them to assist you after they haved finshed laughing at you.
