The way you define "presence of God" is different from those who believe in God. Often times we think that "presence of God" means encountering with Him which it is true to some degree. Presence of God has three meaning. First, He is Ominpresent. He is EVERYwhere, and nothing escape from his presence. Secondly, Indwelling Presence. He lives in us, mainly the believers. Our body is the Temple. He shapes the believers through the Spirit. Lastly, His Manifest Presence. This has a special task at a specific time. He invades your life when He wills. He shows himself to you in a more specific ways. We often think the "hands of God" would be something BIG and IMPORTANT like no one would miss it. Sometimes the hands of God does appear but it appears in a small form that we miss it the most.

I've never felt it, but the closest I came to true -- I don't know what -- was when I held my son for the first time. An awakening? Euphoria? Never felt like that before. One of those feelings you take with you always.

it's not like maryhuanna or cocaine that lab rats get addicted to.

Its more like a feeling of acceptance, a sense of eternal security, and solidarity. Not only with God but all the saints and martyrs, relatives, friends and everyday people who trusted in Him throughout all the centuries. People you may not even have met, but you are united to by God, who is immensly compasionate to people`s problems.

It's not pleasure, but joy. It opens people's eyes and changes their outlook to face life in a different way.

Isn't God always supposed to be present?

Whenever I talk to God and pray I cry, some have told me that that's the Holy spirit. But, I'm not really sure.
