I'm been struck by lightning a couple times. Since I didn't hold my poker face very long in both cases, I got taken advantage of both times.

Ironically, I've been on the other end twice as well and neither one of those worked.

It happened to me once. I think I was sixteen. We didn't live in the same town, but met on a combined school trip. I fell for him in the frustrated, mooning, swooning, giddy way sixteen-year-old girls fall in love--hard and irrational. We spent two weeks hanging out as friends on this trip, and then the following summer, his family moved to my town.

The summer was fun, but he had a girlfriend in college, so we remained strictly friends. When he discovered his attraction to me, he disappeared off the face of the earth. (I was seventeen, at this time, I beleive.) I was crushed, heart-broken, and angry. Eventually I got over it and forgot why he had hurt me to begin with.

When I was 22, he showed up in my life again. (On a totally different continent, in an entirely different country!) We spent a little time getting to know each other again and then started dating. Our relationship was very short-lived. We were never right for each other...but the chemistry was always so strong. He pulled another disappearing act (at the WORST possible time).

Years later, we still talk on occasion, but never more than to make sure the other person is healthy and happy. The whole thing was very bittersweet and sometimes I still think of him and smile.

Falling in love can be dangerous. It's better to choose to be in love. Dig the points.
