But when an immigrant happens to be more educated than they are, they complain that s/he is arrogant?
Is there any possible way to win?
And some wonder why current immigrants couldn't care less about the majority's approval! When no matter what you do, you are still hated, you stop giving a toss about being liked.
Like that old joke I heard once in Houston:
Q: What do you call a Black who dropped high school?
A: A "n-word."
Q: What do you call a Black that just got his degree in aeronautics?
A: A f--king "n-word."
Racial hatred does not depend on how smart, agreeable, educated or "legal" you are. You could save their lives, and they'd still hate your guts.
Stop caring about what they think.

That is something I'd recommend not only to Native-looking or Black-looking Hispanics in the USA.
I'd recommend that also to all other dark-skinned minorities: never mind what whites think of you. Think of yourself. You don't need to gain worth through someone else's eyes.
If you're Black, Arab, Amerindian, etc. stop caring that they hate you. It's their issue, not yours.

The joke there (told me by a white fellow with whom I worked) is very important.
The point (which may be so subtle it is lost on the kind of people who tell such joke) is that, if you're a visible minority, the more education you have, the more of a threat you become.
Being smart and educated won't make you necessarily successful.
All the contrary: it's more likely it will make you mistrusted, watched and worse.
The only way for an educated minority to get ahead in life is to completely assimilate the ethics code of the ruling class, to act as their dog, or to provide a voice as a victim to the whole group.
We all are expected to assume either the role of "assimilated secondary characters" or "victimized chronic complainers."
A minority who wants to take power in his or her own hands, based on his or her education and intelligence, is hated, persecuted and discriminated.

I totally agree with you....This country is based on race, not class......People will always look at your skin color before they look at what class you are from.....You can be an educated African American and still experience discrimination....

I am sick of this racist BS.
Being non-white does not make you immune from criticism. Not everything bad someone says to you is because /they/ have a problem. Some of it may actually be true. If you assume that everyone who is white, or american, or even critical of illegal immigration is a racist, you are making the kind of generalization that actual racists make.
Yes, there are poorly educated immigrants coming to the US - mostly they come illegally. There are also well-educated ones (my boss is one of them), mostly here legally. The former are more of a concern to most of us - primarily because they are here illegally.

I don't judge an immigrants' education level anymore than I do their religion or skin color. As long as they've been respectful of our laws, I'm glad they are here. It takes all kinds to make this country great - we are such a rich mixture, and the variety is wonderful.

Dude, you're absolutely right. It really doesn't matter what kind of education you have. One of my Latino friends went to Notre Dame and she experience all kinds of racism. She just wanted to be treated like everyone else and it didn't matter that she was there on a full scholarship. She was still an outsider.....

Sure, theres an easy way to win, quit coming into the country illegally. Why is it the fact that these folks ar illegal is ignored. Go through proper channels, get the proper paperwork and you will be welcomed at least by me with open arms. But whether you are educated or dumb as a box of rocks is negated when you are illegally in this country.

I think LEGAL immigrants are great. However, the majority of our current immigration problem are the ILLEGAL alien criminals that are here breaking our laws, sponging off the taxpayer and typically uneducated!
Illegal immigration has nothing to do with race. It is about the law!

They will care about our approval once they see millions of us marching in protest against illegal immigration. And who are you to speak for black people. Stop using the race card.

the only approval you need is your own.
if you base your life on the approval of others, you'll never be happy.
BTW: Arabs are considered "white" in America. This is how the white majority remains the white majority; "white" is continuously re-defined.

I complain about "uneducated immigrants" because we got enough "uneducated Americans" in this country to deal with.
We don't need any more "uneducated immigrants" because I think that we have more than enough and it's been proven that these "uneducated immigrants" are more likely to be on welfare, medicare, and poor.
Let's get some "educated immigrants" here with BA's, Master's and PHD's, as opposed to the "uneducated immigrants" with their "EGD's (that's Eight Grade Diplomas for all you "unedcated immigrants" out there)!
