turkey lunch meat has a lot of sodium and preservatives in it. could i simply wash it out before eating it to reduce the amount of sodium?

you can't wash it off... the sodium is in the meat itself.

No, there's no way that you can get the sodium off. The lunch meat is either soaked or injected with the sodium & preservatives. To avoid these unhealthy ingredients, you could always buy a raw turkey or chicken breast (Organic if possible!), season it with olive oil & some chosen spices, and roast it at about 400 F. Then cut it up and use it as lunch meat for the week. It tastes so much better than packaged or deli lunch meat anyways.

No, you cannot wash it off... What I would recommend is buying a higher grade of lunch meat - fresh from the deli counter rather than in the prepackaged containers. That would be MUUUUCH lower in preservatives and, likely, sodium. There are also low-sodium brands of pre-packaged lunch meat out there in case you cannot use the deli counter.
