some nuns do get paid. I think you are confused. If a nun has a job - like working in a diocese office or a school or a job in the real world, then she is getting a paycheck.
if she is in a convent or is cloistered (think like the nuns in the convents that you can never see) chances are those aren't getting paid, because they don't have jobs and they aren't doing "real" jobs.
But if they nuns you are referring to are teachers, or working at your church, or diocese, or at a charity office - then chances are they are getting a paycheck.

Priests are given a very meager stipend by the Church because priests live in the world and must provide food, clothing and shelter for themselves.
Many nuns that are cloistered have their basic needs taken care of by the religious community and so do not require the stipend.
For those nuns that are "in the world" teaching and doing other work, they also receive a very small stipend for living expenses.
By the way, Yaabro......celibacy is NOT forced. It is a choice freely made by these men and women. Didn't St. Paul say it was good to be single so one might serve the Lord better without the demands of the flesh? It's very biblical.

Is that true? I know some priests who only relied on donations because they don't get money from the church. I think nuns do get paid, why don't you go ask a priest?

That is an interesting question. In my religion, our clergy does not get paid at all.
I am a Wiccan High Priestess. We do not serve our Goddess or God for pay. We do so out of love and reverence. We teach the old ways, to share the teachings and help others find the same peace and joy that we ourselves have found.
We ask no pay for this service. We do so out love. We do it because we have chosen to do so. And are happy to give of ourselves. We do all of the same duties that any other clergy does, the difference is, we do proudly, we do it humbly, we do not ask for pay. We do it out of love.
Blessings, love and light

Because the Catholic religion, like many other religions in this world, oppresses women and treats them as inferior to men.
