Why does my maple tree not have the helicopter seeds this year? It usually has millions.?

It depends on where you are. In central Illinois the maples experienced freezing temperatures right when the helicopter maple fruits were forming. Some of our maples don't have the helicopters, and others have the helicopters without any seeds inside.

The helicopters are fruits called samaras.

Maybe it just didn't produce seeds this year for some reason. Maybe try searching maple tree producing seeds or something like that. Could be a fun little research project!

It produces them every other year
