Measure the narrowest part of your waist and then measure the fullest part of the hips/buttocks. Divide the waist measurement by your hip measurement to find your waist/hip ratio. If it is below 0.8, you are pear shaped and this is considered to be healthy. If it comes to 0.8 or above, you are apple shaped and you need to be careful.

Find a perfect example of an apple, and a perfect example of a pear, and hold them against yourself while looking in the mirror. If you seem more like the apple, you are apple shaped. If you seem more like the pear, you are pear shaped. Nothing more to it.

Look in a mirror. A pear has weight in the hip area. An apple has weight in centre area (like a ball).
