It depends on the person. that's a bit of a generalization. I think that a person who has "something to believe in", might tend to feel less fear and apprehension in the face of problems than a person who believes in nothing. it really depends on the person.

It depends on your personality, your view of religion, and your particular religion. If you are the kind of person who seeks the meaning of life and those sorts of questions, then yes, finding a religion might give meaning to your life. It might also make you more secure about death and not fear it as much if you believe in an afterlife. Same thing with dealing with the death of other people you care about if you think you will see them in heaven.

If you're the kind of person who wants to live for the moment, then you might not like the rules and obligations most religions impose on their followers. And if you simply find the notion of God to be silly, then you might not find any comfort in religion.

I think that finding a belief system is important for everyone, even though you might have to look around at different religions and find one that works for you and/or one that you identify with and that fits in with your life. There are even some non-theistic religions out there that don't necessarily focus on God but that still encourage its followers to be better or more enlightened people.

Um, no.

Christians are always pissed off about something. They have severe stress from self-denial which makes them confrontational and angry, and they spread hate and intolerance for anyone or anything non-Christian. Are those the actions of people at peace?

I think psychologically the Judeo-Christian religions aren't conducive for a peaceful mind; they are based on fear and guilt, and it forces people to constantly feel the need to validate their beliefs.

And in this wretched society, that is by trying to prove others wrong. And since that cannot be done through logic (since logic is the antithesis of religion), it has to be done via persecution.

I guess that will depend on how much they believe and are able to follow it without having to live with guilt. To me when one is religious, it prevents them from doing many things. For instance they cannot go to bars and drink if they want to, have premarital sex if they wanted to. Unless they are totally convinced and ok with the idea and not feel like they are missing out then YEAH they can be happy.

Happier..I'm not sure. Anyone can be happy as long as they get to do what they want and are content with their lives. I was happy when I was religious a few years ago and I'm still happy now that I'm not religious. But the only reason I choose to not be religious was to stay happy after a certain point in my life. I wanted to fit in and do the things that I didn't think was wrong like having pre marital sex, a nice relationship not binded with institutionalized marriage, party, dance etc.

If I stayed religious and did all I wanted I doubt I'd be happy coz I'd be guilt ridden. Hope I didn't confuse you. My thoughts may not be organized but I hope I got the point across. :)

maybe, but up to the time they realize that their religious beliefs are lies and deceptions, then they're not too happy...

Here's the Solution, once You realize that religion is Spiritual fraud:

Create a Private, Personal, Direct, Divine Relationship with Our Creator and save your Soul from religion's and atheist's beliefs.

Love and Believe in Our Creator;
Love and Believe in Yourself.

Only with Our Creator's Love and Peace will we be Truly Free!

Without God, there is No Love; Without religion, there are No Wars!

"religion is the Worse invention of humanity" - Jesus Christ, Buddha and any one else with Spiritual intelligence.

atheists = all the people in religion = all the ignorant fundamentalists = all the cults/superstitions

No, I wouldn't say that people with religious beliefs tend to be happier...definitely lie more and deny that they ever do anything wrong...but not happier.

Absolutely not. They may be happy with belonging to a religion, but that doesn't mean they are happier than others who don't

Hmm, dunna I live in SW Missouri, pretty much all young people are brainwashed to Christianity, yet they almost all still party and self destruct at every chance they get. Don't know, does that lead to happiness? I don't believe in any deities, but I take very good care of my body, so I usually feel pretty good.

Compared to who....Atheists?
not happier
but more blissful I suppose...

Ignorance is bliss...(that's what they say.)
Imagine living life thinking that no matter what you did, it wouldn't matter because the king of the world loves you....
that's a pretty sweet deal.

Atheists think too much...about the environment, about the status of our country, about the population, about the Christians and the Muslims destroying the world...

The only thing religious people worry about is how hard Jesus is going to spite all the people that called them idiots...

Not necessarily. I think it can contribute to that, but not always. Religious beliefs can also make people miserable, guilty, and depressed. There are also many people with no beliefs that are very happy, contented people.
