Over the past several months, I've been gaining weight even though I try to control it with a healthy diet and excersize. Any ideas on how to start LOSING weight?

Define "healthy diet and exercise". My healthy diet is different than yours and different that the others that have answered this question so far. Your body type makes all the difference.
There are some basic things you can do that everyone can do. Outside the basics (eat healthy foods, drink lots of water, ect)
Now, there are diet products out there that can help too. Most people shun at the thought of another diet product. That is because most people want to have a "catch all" diet product that solves their weight problems leaving them to do nothing. Those "catch all" products don't work. In fact, diet products don't work...you have to. Some diet products definately help though...as long as you are willing to work at it too.
From the sounds of it, you already are working at it. I would refer you to www.dietpatchbargains.com for the Hoodia Diet Patch. This will help to increase your metabolism (a significant factor in losing weight), boost energy, curb cravings throughout the day. I would suggest a 4 - 6 month supply. YES, the key answer is drink plenty of water! And if possible try to exercise at least 3-three times or more out of the week. The best way to lose weight is watch your calorie intake. There are so many great healthy eating choices out there on the market. I lost 30 pounds last summer, the first 30-days I did not have results, but after continuous exercising and eating healthy, the weight just fell off, the right way. So, just stay encouraged and do not give up, NO PAIN, NO GAIN....it's hard work looking fabulous, but you can do it. Keep a journal of your daily dietary intake and exercise, that always helps so that you can review and analysis what you have done for the week.

Count your calories. It might be an issue that you are underestimating how many you eat, even in a healthy diet. Or, that you overestimate how many you burn.

Keep a food journal for the next month. If you lose weight, then you found the problem. If not, then go see your doctor. He/She will probably test your thyroid, and would normally ask you to keep a food journal before any weight loss treatment... which you've already done. Pen and paper, or on the web... doesn't matter, just jot it down!

we don't know what you consider a "healthy diet" or how much exercises you're doing. The answerer who said portion control is right on. smaller portions. And don't make any foods completely off-limits. If you deprive yourself of something you'll crave it and when you finally give into the craving you'll eat too much.
as far as excercise you're going to need to bump it up a notch. If you're walking - increase your speed a little. Try jogging. If your bike riding, increase the intensity..etc. you get the idea- the only way to burn fat is aerobic exercise and that means getting your heart rate up high enough and keeping it there for 20-30 minutes.

Be more descriptive over your exercise and diet program. It would help to know what type of exercise, how many times a week, duration, etc to ensure you are doing the right things. Realize something if weight training is part of your routine it is actually a normal thing. Allow me to explain, muscle weighs more than fat and although you may weight around the same or more your body looks completely different. It's one of the reasons that weight is a terrible measure of fitness. All it is the effect of gravity on your body, instead determine your body fat % a much clearer indicator of fitness level. I'd be glad to help if you provide some more details.

A cup of berries will have a ton or sugar. So 1/2 cup and no honey is much better. Always try to avoid refined grains! White wraps are bad!, try whole grain, and try mustard instead of mayo. Mayo is super fattening!!!! It's not terrible if you've never dieted or tried eating healthy before but you can do better. btw instead of hoola hooping, try jump rope or jogging.

First, You might want to go to an endocrinologist and get your thyroid and other blood levels checked. You might have hypothyroidism or some other condition that will cause you to maintain or actually gain weight. If you are dieting correctly and doing cardio at least 30 minutes a day plus weights 3 sets of 15 at moderate weight you should be losing weight. I found out my thyroid was low and when they gave me meds for it i lost 40 pounds in 2 months.So definitely go get your levels checked out before anything.

Definately check with your doctor first. If there is no other explanation, then you may have reached a plateau in your weightloss which means you need to increase your workout and try the meal plan below.

Remember, your output of physical exercise should be equal to your intake of calories. Sometimes our ideas of eating healthy don't factor in calorie amounts and 2 to 3 times a week of exercise just helps your metabolism. You may want to work with a personal trainer.

I don't know exactly what you're doing... make sure you do enough cardio because that's what makes you lose fat. Try running. As for diet, even though healthy whole grains are great for your health, they can make you retain weight, so cut back temporarily. On the other hand, there is the possibility that you're not eating ENOUGH, and your body is in starvation mode. If your body is retaining weight because you're in starvation mode you'll have symptoms like low heart rate and sallow skin, or if you know you haven't eaten very much and yet you're not hungry.

Some people have slow metabolism, but...

Start with the basic math: 3,500 calories is a pound. Eat fewer calories than you burn, you'll lose weight. Or burn more calories than you consume, and you'll lose. Nothing can prevent this. Your metabolism might slow on a stringent diet, but not always, and not for everyone. i think you must look elsewhere.

I wonder if your exercise is converting your fat to muscle, causing no net loss to be reflected on the scales. That happens sometimes too. People firm up and muscle up, and they see no number loss on the scale, even though their clothing size goes down.
