I told mine that doing that was for mommy's with big boobies and when she gets big boobies then she could do it. Silly I know but I wasn't comfortable with her doing it so....

Yes, you should let her breastfeed her doll. Nothing usual about it. Children mimic. She's feeding her baby.

This is a reaction to the sexualization done by society. Would you wig out about a child pretending to bottlefed? No. Nothing different about this.

And yes, even boys will do it.

In my house I've seen dolls, balls, Pooh Bear and Tiger, etc. breastfed. I did stop my oldest from trying to nurse her little sister though.

I think it is probably best that you just tell your daughter that you are sorry that you said that, you were having an off day, there isn't a problem. She'll think very highly of you for it.

Kids mimic their parents (especially the same sex ones) all the time. I don't think there's anything wrong w/ her pretending to breast feed, but just inform her that it's something that she should only do at home. That way it'll spare you the embarrassement and awkwardness in public. Also, make sure that you explain to her that you freaked out when you 1st saw her copy you b/c you feel that she's too young to play that sort of pretending game. Or if you really feel uncomfortable w/ her doing this, just say that you think she's a little too young to play that way.

I understand your reaction, but it is normal, when I was breastfeeding my son my girls did the same thing. They are just trying to be good mommies to their dolls.

Nahh it's not weird at all. Kids look up to their parents and will do what they do. She just wants to take care of her doll. Let her do it if she wants, telling her it is wrong may upset and confuse her.

it is actually very normal for her to imitate you, she will do this herself someday! Talk to her, let her know you were silly to yell at her for doing something natural, and let her know its ok to do it, as long as its private, just like mommy feeds the bay in private. She will stop soon enough.

It is perfectly natural for her to breastfeed her doll, even boys will breastfeed their dolls. Why would you say it is gross and tell her to stop? Do you think it is gross that you breastfeed?

What's really gross is the number of dolls that come with bottles.
