I'd go to the library, and get books on homeschooling. The Well Trained Mind by Susan Wise Bauer is a resource book with lists of materials for children of all ages.

Also, have you tried the BOB books? They're great for teaching little kids to read.

Reading to him is great. Also Richard Scarry books, the kind with all sorts of pictures.

Alphabet fridge magnets too.

Then in everyday things, like if you take him to the grocery store, have him help you count out 4 apples. Cooking is also great for this, like when you need 3 eggs for a recipe. You can also do this with building blocks, etc.

Then get your husband involved too!

I also like the book How to Raise your Childs IQ by Kindergarten - it has ideas like this. My library had it, so would assume yours might too or ones like it.

Where should you start? I would suggest you get pointers from experienced tutors. Go to sites where tutors and retired teachers hang out. For example:

(1) http://www.tuitionplaza.com/tutoring/ - tutoring by retired teachers and volunteers (free)

2) http://www.tutor.com - tutoring by professional tutors (not free)

3) ... and many more (use search engine!).

Read to him and show him the words.
