one of the biggest legal debates of all times is the effectiveness of the penal system. It is obviously dysfunctional and unfortunatelly does not seem to get any better!
It is not only the issue of overcrowded prisons and early release of prisoners but also the fact that the basic reasons of imprisonment ( deterrence and rehabilitation) fail overall.
the problem does not have an easy solution and the current method of easy release is definatelly not one!
Ageneral reform is needed to address the penal system in general and in principle!

The Justice system is effective but flawed. Releasing prisoners early may solve an overcrowding problem. But it does nothing to lower the crime rate.

I think that they have the right Ideas they just don't put them to use, With them everything seems like a big Power Trip like they think they have to control EVERYTHING. It seems like where I live they let someone trying to break into someones house go and someone smoking spot go's to jail for a year. I think they have there prioritys messed up and no it dosent solve any of our problems, Im guessing why there is so many people in prison.

our justice system sucks big hairy dog dick mostly because of plea bargaining, dishonest lawyers, and incompetent judges. of course releasing prisoners because of overcrowding does not solve the problem, how could it? all it does it put more scum on the streets so they can commit crimes.
