In your other question you did not mention the type of hepatitis the Dr said you had immunity against. Your immunity was acquired after past exposure to the HBV or through vaccination. This is not "natural immunity" but acquired immunity and you are now immune to infection from hepatitis B.

Acquired immunity may be obtained by natural or artificial means. In addition to this, acquired immunity may be either active or passive. A natural immunity is an acquired immunity which would suggest a past exposure (active) or a history of vaccination (passive). If your doctor has also told you that your hep B titers are sufficient, than you are considered immune for as long as your titers remain that way.

I don't know about a "natural" immunity. Maybe you only had one or two shots in the series. Or, your mother passed the immunity onto you while you were in the womb. I only had 1 in the series of 3 shots and I am immune.

It's rare, but it happens. Some people have such a strong immune response that they form antibodies to a virus they've been exposed to, without actually developing the virus.

There's a lot of research into why it happens, because if we could make it happen for everyone, there would be a lot less disease. So, good for you. :)

You could have been exposed to it at a young age without anyone realising it. We can all build natural immunities. I was told at school that I was immune to smallpox and didn't have to have the jab. (A few years ago now).

Think yourself extremely lucky if you are. It's a growing concern in the western, drug-crazed world we now live in.

But don't take unnecessary risks. (Just incase they're wrong).

Pete.

It is possible but the only real way to tell is to challenge your immune system with live virus. If it turns out that you don't then you will be a persistantly infected carrier for the remainder of your life.

Yes it is possible it must be a gentic trait that ir rare, but I dont know much about hepatitis, but your immunity must be genetic.

vaccination, Yes you probably had your shots. Depends on your state but in IN you had to have all your shots to get into public school. Here is a link below about hep B. I know I had my kids get all of the shots, you ever know going over seas or around the amish.
